ALLISON’S POV I stayed there on the ground for more than I could remember, my heart pounding in pain, squeezed tight in my chest. I could hear Daniel’s voice, muttering words of apology and trying to call me out but it was all too far. I stared at my mother on the floor, unable to tear my eyes off her face, the same face I had stared at and told never to bother me again.  I blinked down to her mouth, the same mouth she was using to talk to me when I insulted her.
