She was totally out of control.
The s*x, the drugs, the feasting.
Perhaps you’ve heard of her. Claudia Baker, better known as pop sensation Estelle.
Sure, I had grand plans, but there was no way in the world I thought it would turn out like this.
So how did it all start and how did I get involved? Well, I’m a small-time club owner in the sketchier part of town. The clientele of my club weren’t exactly society’s finest, and Claudia, I mean, Estelle, was one of my regulars.
One night I held an open mic, with the winner getting a “recording contract”. Of course, this was a ruse, but when Estelle came on that night she blew me away. The voice, the charisma, the aura. Everything.
Immediately I took her under my wing, taking her around town, singing at different clubs. She was unbelievable. In no time at all she had a following. We were selling out clubs all over the city, raking in the cash.
But Estelle wasn’t normal. This I found out very early on. The pretty boys that would follow her backstage would be the same boys I would find the next morning. Estelle would tell me to “dispose” of them. Look, I haven’t exactly lived the easiest life either and I’ve seen some things. And, well, we had another show that night.
Soon enough we were travelling around the country. Her taste was becoming more diverse. She had never left the city before and with all the new “fans” she had gained, Estelle was having the time of her life. Boys, girls, in between, it didn’t matter to Estelle. She would take them backstage or back to her hotel and every morning I would find them. It was grotesque. She drained them, left them in sick poses, some still barely alive, and she would ask me to dispose of them.
But now we were global. She had hit songs, sold out tours, even major endorsements.
Did anyone else know what was going on? I’m sure of it. We saw the way she was. Some of us even attended her “parties”. We saw the way these kids followed her, how she used them. We saw how she didn’t care whether we knew what she was or not.
Because she knew we weren’t going to tell. Now, it wasn’t just me. We had a whole team behind Estelle, all with our hands out. She got what she wanted, and we certainly weren’t doing this for free.
We were on top of the world, and we weren’t going to be stopped. Another song, another number one record, another tour, another million dollars, another dead body to dispose of. Yes, life was good, and it was all because of Estelle.
