Chapter 5, I hunt down strange things

I am a Hunter except I don't go after Deer, Duck or Bear instead I go after mythological creatures.

I believe people call them Cryptids, I've hunted down creatures from Kelpies, Giant Spiders, Werewolves even one time the Jersey Devil.

No I never hunted down the Moth Man cause he doesn't exist, despite all these 'evidence' nor did I go after the Loch Ness Monster, I have a strict code if it's not a threat or is last of it's race I will not go after it.

I hunted Bigfoot, he's a tricky son of a b***h still remember him telling me to leave him alone and that he hasn't harmed anyone. My new hunt involves something I should of figure I would be chasing down.

I was given the task to hunt down The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, at first I want to laugh but this is coming from the guy who hunted down the Chupacabra, still I couldn't even describe that thing when I killed it.

I drove down to Sleepy Hollow, New York and asked around about the Legend of the Horseman.

All the same, the story of Ichabog Crane a teacher who was chased by the Horseman and was never seen again, Legend of Headless Horseman is rumored to be a Hassen a German Mercenary during a battle lost his head from a cannonball.

Story goes he roams Sleepy Hollow searching for his head and attacks anyone taking their head for his own.

One thing I know this Horseman appears at night across the bridge. So I stayed at motel awaiting for the night and prepare for this encounter.

Once the sunset I went off armed with a Mag-Fed 590 Mossberg Pumpaction Shotgun, Colt Python, Medkit, Bowie Knife and a sun absorbing phone charger. I left my room and walked into Sleepy Hollow, across the bridge and searched.

I set up trail cams and continue to search, used my phone to watch each cameras only to see deer, birds and some other animals.

I continue to search and check trails for Hoof marks but I found nothing, I was about to call it in but I heard a scream so I ran towards the sound but I was to late.

Found a body of a woman missing her head and it was fresh, it couldn't of been an animal so I checked for a blood trail but I found nothing.

I was starting think something is off, I checked my surroundings aimming my shotgun in case then I heard a horse neighing and I turn to face one which wasn't far from my reach.

I approached the horse cautiously and pet it, Strange I wasn't close to any farm as far as I am concerned but it was strange.

The Sound of laughing caught my ears then a gloved hand clenched my throat slamming me down. I looked up to see the Horseman, indeed he was headless and wearing an old century uniform and holding a saber.

I kicked him in the chest which he made a grunt which was weirder since he had no head but I got up and ran.

Hearding the sound of hooves stomping made my heart race so I quickly went right and hooves begin to fade for a minute.

I turned around aimmed my gun and fired into the Horseman's chest, I watch him fall to the ground and to my horror he rose up again laughing dusting his chest off.

I ran again and hide behind the trees, I held my shotgun tightly and gritted my teeth in tense fear, I never said I was never scared on these missions.

But this made my heart pound onto my chest, I spotted the horseman before he saw me.

Luckily I snuck up and tackle him to the ground and got my knife ready til I heard someone shouting "Stop dude stop!" I turn to see a teenager.

I look at the Horseman and open the suit and found another Teen, I got off of him and was frustrated.

I shouted "What the hell are a pack of kids doing here?! This forest is full of dangerous animals! and possibly some druggies" One of them responded back "Dude chill we're just making some videos we're doing a prank the hell was that for?"

I rubbed my eyes together and left them, i heard them scream 'Asshole' I continue to search for the Horseman despite running.

Then I realize something, I took out my book on Cryptids and searched for Dullahans.

'Dullahans, people who lost their heads force to roam the countryside to search for their missing head, only way to kill one is to destroy the head but it must be attached to the body' I needed to find the head.

Then I heard screaming which made me clench my weapon it sounded like those teens. I cursed to myself for leaving them, but I can only avenge them by finding the head.

I ran searching for a possible grave where is head could of been bury.

Luckily I found a graveyard but which one was the rider, I search for any name which was remotely German then I spotted the Horseman as he rode down to me.

I got out my shotgun but the bastard kicked me in the chest knocking me over, I got back up holding myself and fired into his back which threw him off.

He was relentless as he charged at me swinging his saber.

I dodged and avoided being cut then kicked him in the back of the knee which made him buckle allowing me to fire into his back again.

This time be didn't fall instead he tackled me as we struggled then he strangled me.

I try to fight him off but he was to strong so I found myself about to fade til he stopped.

I noticed while catching my breath he was looking or least I think at a grave stone.

He got off me and went to headstone, the gravestone read 'Here lies Karl Sternberg'

That must of been his name then he dug into the ground and rip open something that sounded wooden which i guess was a box for his head.

Then he held a head which was fresh to my surprise, his hear was red and his skin pale. Once he placed his head on he laughed and spoke something in German.

He was excited to have his head back, once he turned around I saw his eyes which were blue once filled with joy now full of fear as I aimed my Colt Python into his face.

"Headshot..." I said pulling the trigger watching him collaspe, I took any evidence to confirm my kill then walked away from the graveyard.

I turn back to notice his body and his horse was gone, I kept my weapon xlose just in case while I went back.

My Employers payed me and me told go rest up.

It was a tough job but an honest one, soon my next task is hunting down the Yeti.
