The silence between them felt different now. Less like a standoff, more like an understanding neither of them was willing to admit out loud.
Myra exhaled. "And if we can't figure it out?"
Arjun shrugged, but there was something softer in his expression. "Then we make it up as we go."
She rolled her eyes, but the fight had drained out of her. "That's your grand plan?"
"Yeah," he said easily. "Because for once, we're not fighting. And that's progress, isn't it?"
She hated that he was right. Hated that standing here with him, talking about this, didn't feel like a mistake.
And yet, it terrified her.
She sighed, shaking her head. "You're impossible."
Arjun grinned. "And yet, you're still here."
Her stomach flipped, but she refused to let it show. "Don't make a big deal out of it."
