Against her better judgment, the rocking of the moving van lulled Maya into sleep. She was hardly comfortable—apparently her abductor didn’t believe in heating—but her exhausting hours and poor sleeping patterns had trained her body to catch slumber whenever it could, and this time was no different. She woke when the van stopped moving, bleary-eyed and sore from the awkward position she’d assumed against the wall.
