Serana arrived at Avelora’s home the next day carrying a basket of food—fresh fish, bread, fruits, and warm soup. “Avelora,” she said gently, “you and your son must come to my home. My husband wants to thank Tharen himself.” Avelora tried to refuse politely. “Your thanks is enough.” But Serana held her hands. “Please. It would mean so much to us.” Avelora finally agreed. When they got to Serana’s home, Tharen was amazed with his eyes widened. The house was big, built along the river with boats tied to wooden posts. Fishing nets hung from the walls. There were lots of workers moving up and down the docks carrying crates full of fish. Serana’s husband, Balen, stepped out. He was tall with broad shoulders and a thick beard. His hands looked like they had pulled a thousand nets from the water. He looked at Tharen with a smile on his face . “So this is the small fighter who saved my wife's life ?” Tharen lowered his head shyly. “yes sir , she needed my help .” Balen laughed loudly. “A brave heart and a humble mouth. Good boy!” Avelora bowed lightly. “Thank you for inviting us over , it's a great pleasure.” “You’re family now,” Serana said. “You saved my life. That makes you precious to us.” Then a girl stepped forward. She had soft brown eyes, warm skin, and black hair tied neatly behind her shoulders. She looked curious, playful, and confident. “This is our daughter,” Serana said. “Miraelis.” Miraelis smiled at Tharen. “So you’re the boy who fought a beast?” Tharen scratched his cheek. “I… yes.” “You look very small , I was expecting you to be as big as my dad . Balen laughed loudly again. “Miraelis! Don’t tease our guest.” They all sat to eat. Tharen and Miraelis exchanged couldn't stop exchanging glances throughout the meal, and finally they began talking about so many things, trees, farms, fish, and even about the beast. From that day on, Miraelis visited Avelora and Tharen often. She helped them with farm work , played near the river, and sometimes they both sat together under the tree talking about silly things. afternoon, Miraelis and Tharen walked through the busy marketplace. Children played around, sellers shouted prices, and fish hung from wooden poles. Then they heard some people shouting near by . “STOP THAT BOY!” Tharen turned to see five boys chasing another boy— who was running while eating stew. Miraelis couldn't hold back her laughter, she burst into laughter. “He’s eating while being chased! What kind of hunger would make him do that?” “He must be starving,” Tharen replied. The boy ran into a dead-end alley. The bullies cornered him. He kept chewing, afraid and shaking. One bully stepped forward. “You’re so dead now .” Before he could swing Tharen walked between them. “Leave him alone.” Miraelis stood beside him. “Go pick a fight with someone your own size cowards.” The bullies laughed. “Move girl, one punch might kill you .” Miraelis smirked. “Make me.” One the bully boys attacked throwing a punch but Tharen dodged and pushed him into the wall. Another ran at Miraelis. She moved faster than anyone expected, grabbed his wrist and flipped him over her shoulder. Tharen blinked at her , he couldn't believe what he just saw “You… can fight?” “Of course,” she said proudly. “My father trained me.” “I thought only boys learned how to fight,” he said. She frowned. “That’s a stupid rule.” He nodded quickly. “Yes. Yes it is.” They fought side by side, moving like they had trained together for years. Tharen’s strength and Miraelis’ skill made a perfect team. In seconds, the five bullies lay groaning on the ground. The boy they saved finally looked up in awe. “Oh… they’re gone?” he asked. “You didn’t see anything?” Miraelis asked. “I was eating,” he replied proudly. Tharen laughed. “Your name is ?” “Arion,” he said. “And thank you! You two are amazing! Do you want to be friends?” Miraelis looked at Tharen. Tharen smiled. “Yes,” they both said at the same time. From that day on, they became best of friends. Tharen was the stronger one. Miraelis was the skilled one. Arion the funny, food-loving one. They played, worked, climbed trees, fished, and protected each other and even got into trouble together. Avelora often watched them from a distance smiling. Her son finally had a childhood. He finally had people who cared. But deep inside her heart, she knew something: Tharen wasn’t meant for an ordinary life. The world would soon learn his name.
