Vincenzo's Pov: I don't know if with time he changed. "Did nonna inform you about the ceremony?" I asked him, as I was surprised. He had cut all the ties linking us to him, I tried to guess who informed him about my marriage celebration. "Oh that, nonna never informed me." "Then how did you know about it?" i asked hearing his reply. "Did you forget the city is a small one and we are a renown family?" He smirked. "Oh, I forgot," I replied coldly, "I heard you got married to a woman bigger than you. I guess nonna's constant harassment pushed you into settling for a wrong choice." Once more he smiled. I knew that face so well. Who the hell was he? What made him believe he had a say in my relationship? What makes him think that he can burst out from nowhere and tell me what choices were correct and which ones were wrong? I only welcomed him because he was family. As the saying goes; blood is thicker than water. But if he dares makes another statement concerning my marriage, I swear I'm going to point my g*n at him, and won't hesitate to shoot a bullet into his head. "Vincenzo, nonna is requesting our presence." I heard Davina's voice from my back. "Alright, let's go then," I said, holding her hands into mine. "Aren't you going to introduce your newly married wife to your brother?" I heard the crap say behind me. Davina turned her gaze in his direction. "Hello, belle," he exhaled. "Hello," She replied nonchalantly. "È un piacere conoscere la moglie di mio fratello," Lorenzo said. "Sorry, I don't know Italian." Davina said honestly. "Tua moglie non è italiana?" Lorenza said. He asked if my wife wasn't italian. I didn't want to reply to his question when the answer was obvious, so I ignored it. "Brother, I will be back." I said taking my wife away. When I walked in, I met Bruno, seating next to nonna, with another lady. She should be a friend to nonna. "Nonna, my wife said you requested to see me." I kissed the back of her hand, and in return, she gently tapped my shoulders before embracing me. "Yes, since the day began, I hadn't taken a look at you." "I love what I'm seeing. You look so good." I was putting on a syrup-brown three-piece coat and a black leather closed-laced-Oxford, all designed by Gucci. "I called you to present to you other mafia lords you can make business with. You know this is also a new adventure, for you and the family you are about to build." nonna exclaimed. Nonna wasn't called the family's brain box for nothing. She always took the time to plot out her plans. In a few years of me being the mafia boss, she had succeeded in creating a channel with all other mafia lords around the world. But today was about me, it was about my celebration and nothing else. The rest could wait. Davina's Pov: The news about Nonna Giulia in wanting to celebrate our marriage was something I feared the most. What if someone from the university came to know about my union to Vincenzo? What will they think of me? A gold digger, I'm pretty sure. How could someone of my age get married to her student, was that even possible? The thing which pained me the most, was when I knew about Vincenzo's secret. He knew all this while that I had been working as a pole dancer in one of his club but he didn't say a word. How stupid I was in thinking he ever wanted something good for me. "Sorry Mrs. Cassano, someone called requesting to speak with you." The maid said, handing over to me the phone. "Hello," I nonchalantly said, without knowing with whom I was on the phone. "Good day, Mrs. Cassano. This is doctor Lorenzo, your mom's new doctor. I just wanted to inform you that we've commenced with your mom's treatment right away." The doctor said. Finally, one of the best news I heard since my new life began. At least I would be able to see mom again. Thinking of it, what do I tell her next we see each other? Lie or tell her the truth? "Thanks doctor, this is good news. Please keep me updated always... doctor, do you think I'll be able to see her soon?" I asked the doctor anxiously. The last hospital where mom was interned, I could only visit her once in a while, because of the shame i get as her daughter who's not able to earn the money for her surgery. Everytime I see her in pain it kills me on the inside. And this made things very difficult for me. As I'm always running behind schedules, no time for me to rest. Which made it very difficult to see her. At times, I visited her just once a week. "Mrs. Cassano, in my professionalism, i can promise you 90% successful surgery. For the 10% let's all pray. But i promise to do my best as a doctor for my patients, you don't have to stress out too much. Mr. Cassano is already providing with all medical necessities for this surgery. Famous doctors from places are taking part in this surgery." The doctor assured. I can finally set my heart to rest. 90% success rate was already good, just as the doctor said i should have fate and pray for mum's recovery. I know she can make it through, mum has always been a fighter, and I'm sure she wouldn't start giving up now. I didn't even realize the doctor called me Mrs. Cassano, I guess succumbing to this marriage thing would be quite difficult. It was good I had the assurance of Vincenzo and the doctor. Maybe after lectures, I'll ask Vincenzo to allow me to go back to the states to visit mum and see how she's doing with my own eyes.It might help in changing the ideas running in my head, probably missing mum too much adds more to my headaches. Yes, the marriage and celebration thing was still playing a fast one on me. Nonna Giulia who was already all over me, requesting for a heir who will take over the Cassano family in the future. This is not the kind of life I wanted to build, neither was it the kind of environment I wanted to raise up my kids in. Who the hell raises kids with guns? She gave me a little green box which contain a diamond ring. She said it was her gift to me, looking at the diamond i was sure it must've caused her a whole lots of fortune. At one glance, one could tell it expels wealth. It was the kind of ring that shined even in darkness. Millions of dollars just for a ring? Who even does that? I balanced the ring on my head bed rushing to the bathroom immediately I checked at the time. It was almost 7:30 am, and I had not yet taken my bath. "Where are you rushing to?" I heard Vincenzo's husky voice behind my back. This was another thing I would have to get used to. I'm a lady who doesn't likes to be asked a lot of questions, I don't like to be controlled, that's why I love doing things on my own.
