CHAPTER FIVE

..CASTED OUT…… (Nyra pov) My body hung limply against the chains, barely conscious; every blood drop dripped down my back, my vision blurred…. I could feel my soul leaving my body, but somehow, I was still alive. My knees buckled, chains rattling as my body struggled to stay upright. The courtyard blurred, faces melting into shadows as agony consumed me. And one of the elders spoke again, while pointing at me… This Luna is not only weak, but she also carries a forbidden child that cannot remain under our protection.” So therefore, she will be cast out of the pack... She will be left to die alone, and her exile should serve as a warning to everyone. Immediately, chains clinked as I was pushed toward the post in the center of the square, my back already raw, my arms trembling in agony… I felt not only heartbreak, nor betrayal, or the cold grip of fear, but rejection… from my own Alpha and the pack I've lived all my life in. The guards had dragged me out of the great hall, my hands bound with thick chains that bit into my wrists, each step a reminder that I was no longer Nyra Vale, the Luna of Harzdawood, nor a wife, and not even a shadow. I tried to lift my head to look at anyone who had been my family or my friends, but all I saw were faces twisted with disgust, curiosity, or cold amusement. Even my parents… the ones who had birthed me, the ones I had trusted most… they avoided my gaze. Their silence spoke louder than any accusation; they had chosen the pack over me, over their daughter, over the child growing in my womb. A sob caught in my throat, but I swallowed it. I couldn’t give them the satisfaction of seeing me break; I had always been quiet, always endured. But now, enduring felt like a death sentence; the courtyard was filled with whispers. Children hid behind the legs of warriors, their wide eyes reflecting the fear and fascination that came with watching a Luna fall. The embodiment of Riven watched me from their stone seats, their hands folded, with their impassive looks, even the air itself seemed to recoil from me. Then, a horn, loud, deep, and violent, a sound that calls for war, tore through the air like a warning from the gods themselves. The entire courtyard froze. Another horn followed, then another continuously, till the ground seemed to tremble beneath our feet. Immediately, a young guard came running into the square, while sprinting breathlessly, his face drained of all color, eyes wide with terror. “Alpha Riven! Alpha Riven!" he shouted.
