......THE FALL OF A LUNA....
(Nyra POV)
You’re carrying a child,” she repeated, her voice firmer this time.
My breath caught in my throat.
“No… that’s not… are you sure?” My hands trembled as they moved to my stomach.
Pregnant?, Me?... How??...
Yes,” she said. “There is no mistake.”
I stumbled back with tears running down my cheeks….I can't believe this…
After years of nothing? Years of being called barren and useless??
“Though I wonder how she was able to dictate the exact stage of the pregnancy, 'Well, this is what she has been doing for years,' I said.
But how come…. Because I can't remember the last time I mated with Riven my Alpha… for a moment, I couldn’t breathe.
I’m… pregnant,” I whispered…again.
Then suddenly, my mind flickered to the dream I had earlier…. It then dawned on me.
My chest tightened, but this time… it wasn’t pain, it was something else I had almost forgotten that existed “Happiness”
“This… this will change everything,” I said, standing up too quickly. “Alpha Riven… he has to know.”
Maybe now he would look at me differently, and I wouldn’t be invisible anymore.
Maybe now…I will finally matter, yes definitely it would…
I didn’t wait, I ran out of the healer's quarter with enthusiasm. Running towards the
I ran through the halls, the stares, through the whispers, nothing mattered anymore.
Not when I held something this precious inside me.
I reached Riven’s chambers and stopped in front of the door, my heart racing.
I raised my hand and knocked, once, twice.
No answer.
But I knew he was inside and I could feel it.
I hesitated for only a second before pushing the door open.
“Riven, I”........
The words died in my throat.
My entire world shattered in one breath.
He wasn’t alone, “Lyra.” My half-sister.
She was wrapped around him, her body pressed against his, her lips on his neck.
His hands… on her waist.
Their laughter filled the room like poison.
I froze; I couldn’t move; I forgot how to breathe for a second; I couldn’t think. My head went blank, and my sight blurred instantly…
The pregnancy token the old healer gave me as evidence in my hand fell to the floor.
They turned at the sound, and Riven’s eyes met mine.
Cold, annoyed, and unbothered.
Lyra smirked….
“Oops,” she said softly, her voice dripping with mockery. “Looks like we’ve been caught.”
My chest burned.
“W-what… is this?” I managed to whisper.
Riven sighed as if I were an inconvenience.
“Exactly what it looks like,” he replied.
Something inside me cracked.
“You’re my husband,” I said, with my voice shaking. “And she’s 'my sister,’ for crying out loud….”
Lyra cut in with a laugh. “Oh, Nyra… you still think that matters?”
I looked at her and stared at him, in fact, at them.
And I stumbled backward because I couldn't believe what I just saw. It was the least disappointing I expected.
I felt insignificant and ashamed.
The fact that I entered this place, caught them, and they showed no remorse is the greatest embarrassment of it all. I laughed bitterly and raised my head.
“I came to tell you something,” I said weakly, looking at Riven. “Very important.”
He didn’t even ask what it was, didn't even care.
Instead, his gaze dropped to the token on the floor.
Lyra picked it up before I could move, and her
Eyes scanned it quickly.
She let out a cruel, sharp laugh.
"Well, this is interesting.”
Riven frowned. "What's that?"
"She's pregnant," Lyra announced, her eyes gleaming as she looked at me. "Our dear Luna is carrying a child.”
For a moment, there was silence... Riven chuckled.
But there was no warmth to it, more like mockery.
“Pregnant?” he repeated.
My heart fluttered with hope.
"Yes, Riven," I responded quickly. "I swear..."
"Enough."!!!!!
His voice grew cold and deadly.
Then explain it. His eyes darkened.
"How can a weak, wolf less woman like you get pregnant without lying on another man's bed?"
My heart sank. “No… no, that’s not…”
"You've cheated," he yelled.
The words struck me like a blow.
"I didn't!" I cried. “I would never….
Lyra scoffed. "Spare me this sympathy, please. Everyone knows you've been desperate for attention.”
"That's untrue!"
“Then whose child is it?” she pressed.
I looked at Riven, the man I had loved for many years.
"Yours," I whispered. The moon goddess has blessed us with a son.
He gazed at me, and for an instant... I noticed a look of doubt on his face, but it quickly vanished and was replaced by disgust.
The moon goddess, you say??, what effrontery to include divinity in your lies…???
“Guards.”!!!!!!
