20 IT TOOK LUELLA TWO full days to pull the weeds that had taken over the back garden, but she didn’t mind yard work. The weather was fine. Autumn’s crispness had entered the air, so she didn’t become overheated as she yanked invasive dogwood from between her sturdy wooden fence posts. The best part of spending time outside was listening to the glittering laughter of Nabila’s young ones as they played soccer next door.
