Lost and Alone

Chapter 2

Vasilias's POV:

My whole body was hurting when I woke up. I was alone in my bed. Valerio had left at almost 2 in the morning. He left after completing his torture. He left after breaking me physically and emotionally.

All the memories of last night came in a flash in my mind. I couldn’t handle the pain. It was too much. I was exhausted. I just cried and cried, just hoping this to be a nightmare. But whom am I lying to? The wounds and bites on my body along with the immense pain in the lower region of my body was the proof that last night was not a nightmare but a reality.

I just cried at my fate. I cursed myself for not being able to protect myself. I cried because the person who raped me was the person I LOVED. I just cried.

But I won’t keep quite I will put him in jail. I will report against him. He needs to be punished. I should report him today itself.

I got up and wore some decent clothing and went to the police station, not bothering to have any food. I just wanted to punish him.

After reaching the station I went to the officer who looked like was a bit free.

“Sir I want to report a crime,” I say in a low voice, not having any energy.

“What is it ma’am,” the officer asks.

“Rape case against MR Valerio Martino,” I say.

“Mr. Martino?” he asks in a surprised tone, “Ma’am would you please wait for some time. I have to speak with my seniors,” he says and leaves the desk.

There was a vending machine, so I decided to buy something, because I was very hungry.

*1 hour later*

I have been waiting for a long time now, but no one came to take my complaint. Suddenly an officer came near me, along with the officer with whom I had spoken with earlier.

“Sir, can you write my complain now,” I ask them.

“Ms. Vasilisa Artino, we are arresting you for blackmailing and defamation of character. Heck’s arrest this woman and lock her up.” the new officer says and orders the other one. I was confused. Why were they arresting me? What have I done? Blackmail? Defamation? Whom have I blackmailed and defamed?

“Sir you may have mistaken. I didn’t blackmail or defame anyone,” I tell them.

“You have blackmailed Mr. Martino. He has registered a complaint against you. So, you will stay inside,” he says while officer Heck pushes me towards the lockup.

I try to say them it’s a false report, but they don’t seem to believe me.

They put me in the cell opposite to some men. The only thing that was separating me from them was the bars. They were all calling me names and saying many other things. They were misbehaving with me, but none of the officers said anything. It was scary. I was breaking down. I was begging the officers to put me out of the cell, but no one cared about my pleads. Soon I gave up and sat in the corner.

The only thing running in my mind was what have I done? Why did Valerio do what he did? Why was I put in jail while I am the victim?

I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard Valerio’s voice.

“So, the witch is finally in the place where she belongs to,” he says and laughs. I kept quiet, I have understood that there was no use of speaking with him. He would not listen.

“Do you know why you are here?” he says, I just look at him confused.

“Well, let me inform you. You see a little birdie told me that someone had filed a rape case against me. Honestly, I was not surprised. In fact, I was expecting you to come here. Anyways, when they informed me, I just told them that was fake, and the person who complained had blackmailed me and defame me, so they have arrested you,” he says and laughs.

Hearing him I couldn’t stop the tear running out of my eyes.

“Why?” I ask him in a low tone.

“Why!? You still have the audacity to ask why? Didn’t I tell you yesterday that this is just the beginning. Am about to do much worst to you. I will make you get what you truly deserve. I will make you feel regret for being alive. For now, enjoy your stay.” Saying that he leaves.

I just stand there thinking about his words. This is just the beginning? There is worst? What can be worst than being raped and been put in jail by your rapist.

*After some time*

I was tired. I was hungry. But I should stay awake.

It’s be almost hours of being in this cell. No one has come for me. Not like I know many people. I have only little friends, because I had just moved here a year ago. But none of them were close to me. So, I didn’t expect them to come for me.

Suddenly a lady officer came and said that I could go as Valerio had taken back his complaint. I was happy to hear that I could go home. I tried to get up, but due to weakness I fell.

The lady officer gave me a sad look and helped me to get up.

“I know you are innocent, and that Martino registered a fake case against you. But you must be strong dear. I would have helped you, but I can’t go against my seniors.” She says. I just nod and give her a weak smile. I can understand her situation.

“But, here take my card, if you need any help in future just call me, ok. I will help you. That’s my promise,” she says and hands me a card. I didn’t know what to say to her.

“Thank you,” I say, with eyes filled with tears.

“No need to thank me. By the way, would you like me to drop you home, its already late and dangerous to go alone,” she says and offers me a ride. I just give her a small, weak nod.

She then drops me to my apartment and goes to her home.

After reaching the apartment I just cried and cried. I wanted to talk to someone. But I had no one. I can’t say this to my parents. They will say its my fault and leave me. My sister will just say to my parents. And I don’t have much friends. I was all alone.

I think I should write a diary. Yes, a diary would be good. Writing however always distracts me. So, I will write a diary. I went to my desk to see whether I have any unused books which I could use as a diary, and I did find one.

After I found the book, I just sat down and wrote my heart out. Wrote everything I felt and decided to write everything in this book.
