Some days later, Mark was with Helen, sipping the rest of the wine they'd had with dinner, watching a romantic film on TV. It was really Helen's sort of film, and he wasn't following it, his thoughts, as usual, elsewhere. But it was nice and comforting, lying on her sofa, she in his arms, her eyes swimming at the melodrama. Suddenly, the movie was over. A big, sloppy, happy ending. And Helen was back to jokes and laughter. He flipped the channel to the business news. At the end, there was a bit about GI Corp. He sat up to attention.
