CHAPTER 27 Mark spent the afternoon anxiously waiting for Kirsten to return. He had no mind for work and couldn't sit still. With his mobile phone in his pockets, he walked up and down the pavement outside the hotel, eyeing each passing car and casting an eye on the phone's display. When Kirsten suddenly turned up, he missed her come in. She was there all of a sudden, looking around as if lost. Then she went on unsteady legs to the Avis desk. He let out a cry of relief.
