The financial records nearly gave Elena a heart attack.
She sat alone in the office staring at unpaid invoices and overdue taxes.
The inn was closer to collapse than she realized.
A soft knock sounded.
Rowan entered quietly.
One look at her expression told him everything.
“How bad?”
Elena rubbed both hands over her face.
“Potentially catastrophic.”
He crossed the room immediately.
“We’ll fix it.”
“You can’t say that like it’s simple.”
“It doesn’t have to be simple to be possible.”
Emotion tightened unexpectedly in her throat.
“I don’t want to fail at this.”
“You won’t.”
“You can’t know that.”
Rowan crouched beside her chair.
“I know you.”
The words landed heavily.
Steadily.
Like truth.
Elena looked at him.
At the quiet faith in his eyes.
And suddenly the fear didn’t feel quite so overwhelming. The faith made the fear vanish like it wasnt even there to begin with.
"Thank you for having faith in me. I wilk try to relax about it then." She smiles softly.
"That's my girl. Now go relax and not think about failing ok?" Rowan Caressed her cheek.
She nods. The fear of failing till there but only a tad.
