"Do you see him?” Lydia Bennett asked urgently, her eyes locked on the gallery entrance.
Emma Lawson, her close friend, squinted into the fading light. “Is it true Nathaniel Brooks is here? Why is he here?”
Lydia’s heart raced. Nathaniel, her former lover who turned rich tech billionaire, stood out along with his sharp fit and assured stride. Seeing him once more turned into a shock.
“Nathaniel,” Lydia stated, looking to keep her voice regular. “I didn’t expect to see you.”
Nathaniel’s eyes softened. “Lydia. It’s been long-term. I didn’t plan on walking into you.”
Lydia tried to cover her anxiousness. “I’m married now. My lifestyle is with Mark.”
Nathaniel’s face showed a mix of regret and curiosity. “I went back to address my father’s property. But seeing you again... It added up to vintage recollections.”
Emma stepped nearer, her defensive instincts clean. “Lydia’s existence is here, Nathaniel. Whatever you've got to say, keep it to yourself.”
Nathaniel’s gaze shifted from Emma to Lydia. “I didn’t come to cause hassle. But there’s more to my go-back than simply handling the property. There are things you need to understand.”
As Nathaniel walked away, Lydia felt a swirl of intellectualization mixed with confusion. She turned to Emma. “What do you think he meant by way of that?”
Emma shook her head. “I don’t recognize it, but it doesn’t sound proper. We have to find out what’s going on.”
At Emma’s estate, Lydia paced back and forth. “Nathaniel’s go-back is tied to something huge. I can sense it.”
Emma handed her a cup of tea. “We want to get to the lowest of this before it impacts your existence more.”
Just then, Lydia’s smartphone rang. An unknown on range flashed at the screen. She spoke back cautiously. “Hello?”
“Ms. Bennett?” The voice became urgent. “This is Detective Roberts. We need to speak about Nathaniel Brooks and his father’s estate.”
Lydia’s belly dropped. “What’s happening?”
“We suppose Nathaniel’s go-back is attached to something severe. We need your assistance to figure it out,” the detective stated.
Lydia’s thoughts raced. “I’ll come right away. What’s the address?”
After the call, Emma looked concerned. “This is getting severe.”
“I need to find out what’s going on,” Lydia stated. “It seems like this is simply the beginning of something larger.”
The next morning, Lydia met Detective Roberts. He greeted her with an extreme look. “Ms. Bennett, we’ve observed troubling records about Nathaniel’s father’s property. We want to understand your connection to him.”
“I used to be close with Nathaniel,” Lydia said. “But I don’t realize a lot about his contemporary troubles.”
Detective Roberts passed her a folder. “Look through this. It shows recent problems associated with the estate. We suppose Nathaniel’s actions would possibly have an effect on more than just him.”
As Lydia flipped through the files, her eyes widened at the information about monetary issues and hidden agendas. “What has Nathaniel gotten into?”
The detective’s subsequent phrases were alarming. “We’ve also received threats. Someone wishes this information to stay hidden. You could be a threat.”
Lydia’s heart raced. “Why didn’t you tell me this quicker?”
“It’s new records,” Roberts said. “Your assistance could be vital in solving this.”
Lydia left the office, feeling the weight of the state of affairs. Her peaceful lifestyle turned into being threatened, and she or he wished answers quickly.
Back home, Mark waited with an involved expression. “How did it go?”
“It’s worse than I thought,” Lydia stated, sitting down. “Nathaniel’s go-back is linked to severe problems. There are even worrying threats.”
Mark’s face grew to become pale. “Threats? Lydia, this is critical. We want to do so.”
Lydia’s telephone buzzed with a brand-new message. It came from an unknown variety. “I recognize what you’re investigating. Stay away or face the consequences.”
She confirmed the message to Mark. His problem deepened. “This is getting out of hand.”
Lydia nodded, feeling beaten. “I want to find out what he's hiding before it's too late.”
