Sophie "Sophie Sterling I thought you said you were taking the day off?" "Yeah, but I changed my mind ma'am." "I'm glad you are here. Things were really getting out of hand. You know how weekends are." "Yeah, I'll just change on my uniform and I'll get it sta- "Uhm- you'll do that after you serve the gentleman on table seven. Eve has done enough already." "Sure Ma'am." I rushed to take his order. Miss Rebecca ,my Boss is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Despite her being so strict, she is very understanding. She is the reason I haven't left even after being offered other well paying jobs. Okay who am I kidding. If a good offer comes I'm a gone girl. But as I said. I really like it here. "Hello sir, What can I get you?" I asked the gentleman sitting in table seven. I wonder what a fine good looking man is doing in such a lowlife restaurant like this. "Coffee please." He answered his eyes fixed on the screen of his phone. He is such a snobbish. If he wanted to have his work done he should have taken it somewhere else. He looks like the type to have an office and a secretary to make his coffee anyway. "How do you want it Sir?" I asked the usual question. "Strong." He answered still on the phone. "Right away sir." I said then took off to ask Eve to prepare it. Working here with my Best friend Eve a is another reason why my days always get better. She always makes me feel like I never left home. With her we don't just serve customers but we also tease them as well. "I'm sorry Sophie but looks like you'll have to prepare it yourself. I have like five customers in line and they are getting impatient." "You do know I don't know how to make an expresso, please just this once, I promise I'll let you teach me how to make it afterwards." I chuckled trying to convince her. "Here it is Sir," She said to an old man handing him a meal. Oops! She wasn't even paying attention!. I guess I'll have to do it myself then. But I can't even remember the last time I made coffee, it's been such a real long time. Anytime I scheduled a lesson with Eve something always got in the way and we had to postpone it for another day. I prepared the coffee and made sure it is strong enough as requested and hurriedly served the man. He had waited long enough. " Enjoy your expresso Sir." I smiled and placed the tray on table. For the first time since I started attending to him he looked up. Not to me of course, but to his coffee. I usually don't attract customers that much. Maybe it's because I like to keep it professional with them. Okay, also that's not true. man chokes uncontrollably. "Excuse me sir, is everything okay?" Miss Rebecca rushed to table seven and tried to ease the man I just served coffee. I knew it, He shouldn't have come to this place. Now he is affected with the air surrounding him. He should have gone to a well conditioned restaurant. "My goodness Sophie what did you do?" Eve pumped into me. "What did I do?, nothing! Why are you even asking me that?" I asked back. No wait,Could it be that the man is choking because of the coffee?. Now I am scared. "Sophie, Sophie." Rebecca calls. Oo-ooh, that tone means nothing but trouble. I'm a dead woman I swear. I walked to the scene accompanied by the eyes of some of our customers who wouldn't focus on the food served on their tables. They should pay for this, in here we don't offer extra services. You want to watch a movie? then go to a movie theatre. "Is this the woman who served you sir?,Rebecca asked " I don't care who the hell served me ,shouldn't you be the one telling me that?" Apart from being such a snob, he is also rude. I thought it's only Satan who could bare such traits. Looks like the devil himself decided to pay us a visit in this old cafe of ours. I wonder who could be his target. Obviously not me, I think I prayed in the morning. Or Did I? "I served him ma'am." I said in a low tone. "First you kept me waiting like I have nothing else to do, then second , you poisoned my drink. Do you know who I am?" He continued still capping his throat. "Who want to know who you are-" Was that loud?, no, not now . "I beg your pardon?" He now looked up locking eyes with me. Wait, are those green eyes?. They look scary but why do I feel like I want to stare a little bit longer?. "Hey!, I'm talking to you." He snapped "I'm sorry I didn't mean to." I trembled " Do you know I can sue you?, both you and this rat hole you call a cafe. What is it called again? " He rolled his eyes disgustingly at the corners of our cafe. "U-uhm this?, it's called Becca's cafe." I answered his question not sure enough he wanted an answer. "That was rhetoric, are you dumb?" "I'm sorry sir this won't happen again. Allow us to make you another expresso. Please." Miss Rebecca joined our meaningless dialogue and tried to calm him down but he pushed his chair forcefully and walked out. " If this are the kind of waitress you have miss, then I'm afraid you'll go out of market," The guts. Is he trying to get me fired? Be gone Satan! "Sophie I think you should just take your day off as it was supposed to be." Rebecca said plainly and walked away. "Yeah I agree." I answered after a long pause. How did I get myself in this type of mess. I really should have just stayed at home and sleep all day. Like what I am used to. "Hey!, see what you get when you pretend to be a workaholic?" She laughed pushing me to the door." Never ever in your life try to work on your day off,it brings nothing but bad lack." She whispered in my ears. "Just shut up already Eve, I kinda feel like this is your fault." "I don't think so. We'll talk about that but for now go home and take a rest ." "I hate you." "You know I hate you more sweetheart. Now go!" She banged the door behind me smiling mischievously. "Okay, mom."I said sarcastically. On my way home I couldn't stop debating with my thoughts as to whether I was fired or Miss Rebecca just got upset with me after what happened. Uurgh! That green eyed man is just something else. I better not see him again or else. ************* Adam Could this day get any better?. I almost choked to my death. Uuurgh!" I groaned furiously. The only café that offered best coffee decided to disappoint me at last. I can walk in there and demand for all the my ' change' I told them to keep. And what is that woman that served me?. Such a weirdo. If anything had happened to me God knows what I'll do to her. I better not see her again. ***
