"Where am I?"
The confused voice of Kaylee rang out. No matter where she twirled to, only that particular sharp whiff of green assaulted her nostrils, and grassy field as far as she could see. Possibly, this was because she was sprawled on the soft ground.
Before she did stand up to discover her bearings though, A shiver crawled its way through her spine, jolting her to a standstill position. To her right, a figure had kind of materialized out of nowhere, causing her no short of goosebumps.
"Who are you? Where in the hell am I?" She implored.
"He Ke Ke. Lady, you smell good. So good I yearn to snatch a bite out of you... And am afraid I just might!" It snarled.
'Vampire! How could one get this close?... I - I have to run!' Further thoughts weren't necessary, Kaylee followed her biological propensity to push her way to the woods. In her mind, there was a sort of asylum that blanketed over the forest, a nature's pull she found safety in.
"I know you're scared, like an injured bird you want to glide away... But can you really? He He"
It was taunting her, and she knew it, yet there wasn't anything she could possibly do was there?
'Wooden Stake, blessed cross, flowing rivers, holy water, tears of banshee... I have none of them! Wait... There's also the bite of a werewolf! But f**k! How am I supposed to bite such a monstrosity?... The woods! I need a stake.'
This thought further fueled her intent for survival. On high Adrenaline, a few seconds past saw them both on the periphery of the misty woods. Even the once contemptuous 'Vampire' had its face scrounged up in agitation now, with its speed through double before, he was brought closer to a hair's length to reach her neck,
"Got it!" She pivoted suddenly, her eyes firm with determination, before striking forward with an obvious object on hand. This 'object' no doubt, was a wooden branch as large as her arm. She swung it dauntlessly at the Vampire, her eyes already envisioning the scene where it stabs through its chest.
"Good reflexes, I'll give you that, Only that you're still too weak but impulsive" The 'Vampire' said before becoming a blur, It's right hand, this split second, had already found its way to her neck, "Now go to sleep, Kaylee"
'How does it know my name!" Her eyes grew large, flabbergasted, then she saw blank.
*Clap, Clap*
"Congratulations! All of you publings have proved to be self-reliant, Sharp, attentive to your environment, and super smart. If there's one thing you lack though... It'll be power. You lack the strength to fully contend against the Vampire you saw... The Vampire that killed all of you."
Kaylee raised her head groggily, she still hadn't woken up fully from after that encounter... Somehow she had died, just like what happened two years ago. That was the first time she had ever felt this kind of helplessness, this kind of distress.
"First experience for most of you right? Werewolves are... How do I put this, different. We won't die because our necks have been snapped, or a bullet cleanly passes through our craniums. Only by special means can we be killed, so don't make such kind of alarmed face."
"Like decapitation?" A voice called out, although this wasn't much of a question, every werewolf has been nurtured right from birth to know the 't*****e tools' that could be used to harm them... And to fear these methods.
'Am not alone?' Kaylee's eyes perked with a startle, she scanned the room she woke up in and realized two things...
First, the room was dimly lit and small, chairs and desks were lined up in columns and rows with a raised platform at the very front. This platform was in use. A woman about 26 with a work skirt, albeit way short than 10cm above knee level, thigh socks, white button-up shirt, and a grey striped jacket; stood erect on this theater with a pair of lens shielding her eyes.
'A classroom?' Kaylee raised her brows.
The second thing was, on the 20 - something chairs, 10 of them, including hers, were currently occupied by teens of about 15 to 17 years. All of them had their brows raised in question, seemingly confused with every setting they noticed.
'What is this?'
She got her answer soon, the first voice, the one that was linked to the woman on the raised platform; presumably, their proprietor or something announced,
"Right, where you are now is the most secret, and sacred part of the Werewolf society... It's an academy of a sort that takes in somebody like you and turns them into something like... Vampire Hunters."
*zhhh* Every listener took in a deep breath, the notion of hunting vampires and desecrating their coffins brought a completely new emotion to their heads; one of Adrenaline, righteous indignation, fear, alarm, and a drive.
But mostly this all felt unreal to all of them. What 17-year-old could standoff to contend against some Century-old monster? These were only fantasies molded up in their heads.
"hehe, I know most of you believe you can't even stand face to face with a Vampire and make it back alive. It would take you as a surprise that a bunch of kids not up to 15 did just that very thing in this Academy. And one of 18 staked a Wasp... A group of individuals like all of you seated here fought against an Earl and pushed it to the brink of extermination.
The stuff in your heads isn't fantasies! Not imaginations you cooped up to indulge yourself while you sleep. Those are the perfect foundations you can ever set up for yourselves... And this Academy would work by all means to build on that perfect You." Her introductory conclusion was met with complete silence before,
"Wait, what is the name of this Academy then?"
"Ah! How could I forget such basic data, I, Irina, Officially welcome you to Moon Academy!!!"
Finished!
