4 –––––––– Ransom –––––––– As we drove through the streets toward her place, I thought back to the incident in the diner. I’d known the guy was Lycan the moment the door opened and he’d stepped inside. His scent had been so strong, rolling off of him in waves. I figured the guy was either supremely egotistical, thinking it would deter other shifters from messing with him. Or, he was so out of control that he didn’t even think to mask himself. As it turned out, he was both. I’d been close to a few loose cannons in my life and he definitely fell into that category. Something told me that this guy was beyond anything I’d ever encountered, too. A real nut-job with a God-complex. For a brief second, I’d even debated about getting involved.
