Hailey
“Hailey. It’s time. Wake up,” Ransom said grimly.
I snapped awake instantly. The room was gray and somber, a reflection of the weather outside. I could hear the rain tapping against the glass and the distant rumble of thunder. Ransom was sitting on the edge of the bed, his back to the window, fully dressed.
“How long do we have?” I asked, sitting up. Although the room was warm, I felt a chilled to the bone. Enough so that there were goosebumps running along my arms.
“About an hour. We’re going to meet Malone and Reece first, to get a good read on the place.” He rubbed his hand over my blanket-covered leg. “You want something to eat before we leave?”
“No,” I said, my teeth chattering.
“You okay?” he asked, noticing.
“Just a sudden case of nerves.” I sigh
