I could tell that he was trying to be patient with me but at the same time he was stressed.
"Jerome, I'm really not pretending I'm listening to the sound…"
He listened but apart from the sound of crickets and other animals that hovered in the night, neither of us could hear anything else, he looked down at me and he asked me if I was satisfied now.
