“But?” Fabrice turns fully toward me, his gaze searching my face now that I’ve stopped speaking to him through the mind-link.
“Damien shoved Mum out of the way of a bullet,” Dominique says before I can answer. Awe lights his voice, the kind only a boy could have. “I’ve never seen anyone move that fast.”
Fabrice doesn’t react the way I expect. He simply adjusts his gold-rimmed glasses, calm and composed as ever.
“Then we should give thanks to the Alpha King for keeping your mother safe,” he says, smiling gently at Dominique as he begins examining him.
“Now, let’s get you checked out properly. I imagine you’re hungry and I know Delphine is desperate to see you.”
He continues speaking as he peers into Dominique’s eyes, watching carefully for any signs of concussion.
