POV: Sera Winters
The day lasted forever.
Every hour dragged. I couldn’t eat breakfast. Couldn’t focus on reading. Couldn’t do anything except watch the clock tick forward while my stomach twisted tighter.
Tonight. After dinner. Caelan’s room.
The others didn’t mention it but I felt their awareness. Kieran kept glancing at me like he wanted to say something comforting. Daxen watched me with that knowing look, hearing every terrified thought. And Caelan moved through the day like everything was normal, but I caught him looking at me when he thought I wasn’t paying attention. His eyes darker than usual. Hungrier.
By dinner I couldn’t swallow a single bite. I pushed food around my plate and tried not to look at him sitting across from me. Tried not to notice how his hands looked holding
