Chapter 14 – coming over for dinner

“Mr. Barnes you need to take it easy, you had open heart surgery a week ago. You cannot go out to the range with your old buddies from the force” I scold my seventy-year-old patient who since his retired from the police force has been acting worse than a child. He collapsed at the gun range today with a shot gun in his hand.
He is every doctor’s nightmare. For a man on his death bed last week, he woke up and refused to be treated, he discharged himself against doctors’ orders, he promised his doctor he would rest, take it easy and now his original doctor refuses to treat him and now he is stuck with me. A retired police detective who thinks he is still in his prime who refuses to listen to doctors’ orders, just how I like them. I roll
