I sipped on the last of my milkshake and pushed the French fries around on my plate. Susie walked back and forth in front of the grill, flipping burgers, and making small talk with the people at the counter. I caught her eye by raising my hand, and she stopped in front of my plate. "Honey, do ya need another milkshake?" She wiped her hands on her frilly apron and took the empty glass from me. "No, I'm good." She stacked my plate along with the ones she was already carrying. "Don't ya worry about it too much, honey. Things have a way of working out." She carried the dishes to the sink. "See ya tomorrow." She called over her shoulder. "Sure thing, boss. And thank you."
