It was weird to stand there hearing them talking about how awful my father was. I had come to realize he wasn't the hero I always believed him to be, but it was hard to hear them talk about him like that. It was also hard to hear about everything that had been going on just under my nose. I had been blind to what had been going on around me.
"We were able to sneak up and hear some of the enforcers talking. Apparently the only safe women in the pack are those mated, so the enforcers take advantage of that to pressure females into matting them.
