“And you think I’m not concerned about that, too?”
He hesitated. “I hope you won’t take this the wrong way, but what about Janus? You let him outside.”
Janus chose that moment to cut his eyes at Connor. No cat ever looked more offended or more contemptuous. Felina put a hand soothing hand on Janus’s back and rubbed a finger between his shoulder blades.
“Janus is a very special cat.”
“I can see that, but it only takes one time…”
Felina looked away, refusing to engage with his scolding. Janus glared at him a little longer, briefly flattened his ears, then turned to look in the same direction Felina was looking. Connor was being snubbed.
He tried a different approach. “What about the cats that live across the park? If you know where they live, maybe I could take them to their owners and
