“I’ll take it from here,” Sergeant Vasquez told the other officer. “You can go back to your post.” The first officer grunted his acknowledgment and walked back to his car. “Would you have a seat in the vehicle, sir?” Sergeant Vasquez asked Connor. Connor got into the back of the vehicle, mostly because he was sure he would wind up in handcuffs again if he didn’t. He was scared, angry, and annoyed in approximately equal parts. When Sergeant Vasquez got into the car and shut the door, Connor asked, “Am I under arrest?” “No. Should you be?” “No. I should be in my own car driving home, but I’m not.” “I asked you to sit in the car because I didn’t want to stand in the rain. We can get back out if you’d rather.” “No. Sorry. I’m just frustrated. I don’t know what’s going on or what anyone
