Chapter 10

Olivia pov

"Paul comes on, how long will you be on the phone?"

"Five minutes, I'm coming" God, he's been on the phone for an hour and supposedly we came to spend time together. In the afternoon we go back to New York and he insists on talking about work. Yesterday while I was in the pool he was talking on the phone, the morning before breakfast the same and now at lunch again on the phone. I finish my meal, alone at the kitchen table. I wash the dish in the sink and leave for the bedroom. I walk past the home office where Paul is still talking on the phone.

"I will be in the bedroom, your food is on the table" I don't wait for an answer and I go upstairs. I lie on the bed and look at the ceiling. I f*****g love him, but really what makes me angry is that he cant live a single day without his job. I don't know how long but at some point I hear him

"Baby? Can I come in?" he says and knocks on the door

"It's your house, you can do whatever you want" I answer and enters with puppy eyes. He does this on purpose, he knows that I cant resist this look. I look anywhere else but him

"Are you angry with me?” asks me

"No, I'm fine," I say and keep looking at the ceiling.

"Do you want to go somewhere until it's time to leave?" he says as he approaches the bed. I go to one side of the bed

"Just lie down with me," I say and he smiles at me. He hugs me and I rest my head on his chest.

"Did you eat?" I ask him

"Yes, it was delicious. I understood that you were angry and I said to give you some time" he says as he caresses my hand.

"It's not that I was angry. You said that we came here to spend time together and that you will not work. And since yesterday you are on the phone. We came here for two days and I have seen you very little"

"Sorry baby. It will not happen again. It was an emergency”

"It's fine. You're done now so sit with me like that?" I ask and hug him tighter

“Yes I'm all yours now”

Time passed, talking, laughing, and making love. Until it was time to leave.

"Will we do it again next weekend?" he asked me as we wait for the mansion gate to open.

"I would like to but this week my mom will have surgery and I want to be here"

"s**t I forgot. You told me yesterday"

"It's ok. I understand you want to be alone again with you"

"Yes, I want it very much" the car stopped and turned to see me. I smile at him.

"I had a great time. We'll just do it again soon as possible"

"Ok. Call me about the surgery" I nod

"Ok"

"Olivia, uncle" we hear Paul shouting at us. We smile at each other and get out of the car.

"You are finally here," he tells me and hugs me

"Hey Pauly"

"I missed you," he tells me in my arms.

"I missed you too," I say to him and look at him

"Hey, buddy. Do you miss me?" Paul asks him

"Yes, uncle," he says and hugs him

"You're late"

"Sorry about that buddy. Is my fault" says Paul and lifts him in his arms. He is so good with the kids he will become a wonderful dad.

"Oli?"

"Yes?"

"What are thinking about?” the little one asks me.

"Nothing. Shall we go in? Will you sit for a while, Paul?"

"I would like it but the little one has to go to bed. And you have to go to the hospital in the morning, don't you? " he says and I nod

"We'll talk tomorrow?” he lets Paul down and takes me by the hand.

"You came" Sophia comes out to greet. We chat for a while and then Paul and Sophia enter the house.

"I will call you in the morning," he tells me as he passes his hands around my waist. I pass mine around his neck

"I will wait" and kiss him.

"I wish the day will come soon when you will sleep and wake up next to me permanently" I smile at him, he gives one last kiss and he gets in the car and leaves. I went upstairs and Paul was waiting for me to put him to sleep. Sophia and I talked for a long time about how the weekend went. I like her, she treats me as a friend and not as an employee. I see her the same.

The next morning I got Paul ready for school, I took him and then I went to my mother at the hospital. She is better and ready for surgery. If it succeeds I will be one step closer to defeating cancer. On the way to school, I talked to Paul again. He will come from the house in the afternoon after work as always.

Little Paul and I went home and a little surprise awaited me. Paul's parents came for lunch. Little Paul ran to greet them. I was also greeted with a smile. His mom Vivian is approaching me

"Are you okay? Honey" she tells me and hugs me.

"Yes. How are you?"

"We are fine and you can talk to me in the singular" It is strange so far those I have met in this family circle didn't want to do anything with people like me. And yet Baileys and Knights are not like that. We sat down to eat. I made sure Paul ate well and I ate too. We chatted in general. But they both asked specifically about me and Paul. They seemed excited about something I was happy with. Vivian went upstairs with Paul to show her some of his paintings.

"She misses her grandchildren. James and William don't live in New York and she rejoices when she is close to her nieces. That is why she is so excited that Paul met a girl who excites him" and Paul excites me. His father says I smile at him

"And you?" I ask

"I'm interested in my children being happy with their choice. I fell in love and married the one wanted and not the one my parents suggested. I couldn't be an obstacle to their happiness. And if Paul is happy we have no reason to say something." I smile

"I have the feeling that you are the ideal for my son. And I am never wrong"

"Thank you, Mr. Knight. That means a lot to me," I said. He told me that he met his wife and how they end up married. He still seems in love after so many years. I want that too. I hope I have it with Paul.

"Honey, Paul wants you to help him with something. He's not telling me what," Vivian says as she enters the living room.

"I will be back"

"Honey, we're leaving. We have some work to do. We'll see you again," Edward, Paul's father, tells me.

"As you wish." they leave and I go up to the bedroom. How glad I am that Paul's parents like me. Suddenly my life gets better and better. I hope mom gets well soon and I will not want anything else
