Olivia pov
"Don't worry, you have fun. We'll be fine. Isn't that right, Paul?" I say as we say goodbye to Sophia and Kevin who are leaving for a trip. Sophia has sat down to be at Paul's height
"Mom, I will be fine. Olivia and I had a good time and we would talk on the phone every day," he tells her and Sophia gives him a big hug. I understand since she gave birth they have not gone anywhere. It makes sense for her to be anxious. Kevin pulls her away and Paul waves at them.
"So what do you want us to do?"
"Can we go for a swim in the pool?"
"Sure. Let's go put on our swimsuits." We went to his bedroom, I got him ready and then he waited for a while until I changed into my bedroom too. I chose a black Retro High Waisted Halter Bathing Suit with Rose Printing. We went down to the pool. Paul was holding his ball and we immediately started playing. Although my job is full-time, there are times when I think about that kiss, my first and only kiss. A month has passed. But he has not let me forget him. From the next day, every day, he sends flowers, gifts, and anything else you can imagine. He also sends letters as much as he wants to see me. I keep the letters and send the rest back. My God, for the first time someone is claiming me and I cant be with him. He has put little Paul in all this after Sophia and Kevin talked to me. Little Paul keeps telling me how good his uncle is and that he wants to date me. "Paul, Olivia hi" I look up and see Vivian, Paul's mother.
"Aunt Vivian, hi"
"Hello, Sophia and Kevin left a few hours ago”
"I know I came for you" this is not good. She seems serious. I look at Paul
"Paul, come here, which is not deep. I will be there, I will talk a little with Mrs Vivian" He nodded and I got out of the pool. I approach her as if I were in high school and the high school principal wants to see me.
"I want to ask you something and I want the truth. What you answer will not affect anything, neither your job nor your place at home. I'm just worried about my son."
"Is he okay?" I asked immediately without her completing her sentence. She smiles sweetly at me
"He told me about you. He's excited about you and I'm happy." I am nobody and she can accept me for her son?
"It may bother you but I don't understand why. I want the best for my son, I want him to be happy and the day he met you I saw him smiling after a long time."
"I don't think I'm the best for him. I'm sure he can find something much better," I say, believing it to be true. Paul is the sweetest man I have ever met, in his letters he writes me the most romantic things a man has ever told me about it and it deserves something better.
"Mrs. Vivian I know my place in this world. I was a waitress, a saleswoman now a nanny. Don't you want something better for your son? Surely your people will comment on this relationship and maybe hurt Paul." something I don't want. She approaches me and holds my hands.
"My sweetheart, Paul is in love for the first time in his life with a modest, honest, and beautiful girl. She sacrificed her life to help her mother, do you think I'm interested in what people will say? Or my son be happy? A month now that you keep returning his gifts he has gone crazy. He does not know what he has to do for you to understand that all he cares about is being with you. "She shakes my hand.
"Please give him a chance. And please do not say that I spoke to you. He doesn't know that I came" I smile at her
"Okay, I still think it's not a good idea but when I can I'll talk to him" and point to Paul.
"OK thank you."
"Maybe one morning I'll go to the office where Paul will be at school" she hugs me
"Thank you very much. I will not say anything to surprise him" I nodded and after a while, she leaves. I went back to playing with Paul until he was hungry and we went for lunch. Then we continued with our routine, played table games, painted, ate dinner, took a bath, and went to bed. I slept too late, I am anxious for tomorrow. Will he want to see me or will he will be angry that I return his gifts. I will find out tomorrow.
