The wheezing of the old man's breathing was the only sound coming from the room. He sat at his desk, rummaging over old articles and several newspaper clippings. He knew parallel worlds existed. There was just to much proof otherwise.
Fourteen years ago, the first time and space ripple had torn the fabric of Damien Liebert's world apart. He had been an aging metaphysical scientist trying to make a discovery using monitors, comparing fluxes of the space – time capacity. The ripple had been announced. Days before, the magnetism of the polarity in the capacitor had interested Damien. The night the ripple had come, an earth tremor had shaken his lab. Damien knew he must find out what had happened. His daughter Joyce had been in California when it happened. She was on her way to visit her "crazy old" father, as she had called Damien. The earthquake had caused her to pull over on the deserted desert road. Her engine and all mechanical aspects of the automobile had died. She had gotten out of the car and was waiting for the strange occurrence to stop. That is when she heard the electrical crackling and saw the flashing lights. She ran afraid her car was going to explode.
Later, when she had mustered enough strength to go back to the car, she had found a man leaning up against it. It was Desmond; she fell in love at once.
