Part One: Just a game? Reality Now CHAPTER 6

255 Words
Matt's mother, Joyce, had gone back down the stairs when she heard the door bell ring.  She went to the door and looked out the window.  Pete was standing there with his Nintendo Super Mario brothers duffle bag over his right shoulder and his Spiderman sleeping bag over his left.       She opened the door to permit his entrance to the house.  Pete thanked her and asked where Matt was.  She was about to answer him when the lights dimmed in the foyer and went out.  Pete gasped and Mrs. Nightshade chuckled nervously, "You aren't afraid of the dark are you Peter?"       Then they heard Matt ... scream.  They both ran to the foot of the stairs.       They heard the timbers of the house creek.  Cracks started appearing on all walls and along the ceiling.  Mrs. Nightshade screamed, "No!  Not again!"       She screamed for Matt, but received no answer.  Pete begged her to get out while she could.  Joyce was losing all she had.  Her home.  Her son!  Then she heard Peter, crying out to her.  The two people got out of the house just as part of the ceiling collapsed closing the entrance to the house.       Outside, Joyce and Peter ran beneath Matt's window.  They tried calling his name.  Then, neighbors started appearing.  Lights flickered and flashed from the boy's bedroom window.  Everyone wondered what was going on up there.  Matt's screams echoed through the night.       Structural creaking and groans began.  The wall of the house outside the boy's bedroom began to mushroom out, like a child blowing bubbles.  Then the bubble collapsed in upon itself.  The implosion sounded like a bomb going off.      Joyce fainted.
