Part One: Just a game? Reality Now CHAPTER 3

208 Words
Across town, in a row house that smelled like a slaughterhouse, Pyro slowly took his devices off.  "That stupid boy jumped into the great chasm killing himself." thought the man.  "Once before, I, Pyro experimented with death in the virtual reality system.  None of the games stimulated death or pain like the Realms system." he spoke to himself.     He was glad he had found a copy of the game.  It was a game that never truly became available to the public.  The creator had died or vanished before the rights could be sold.  The figure had purchased his copy on the streets of the city, black - market.  "The Realms controller should have continued the game."       "Man, am I parched.  That was a good game tonight." He thought as he walked slowly to the refrigerator.  A bottle of red liquid glimmered in the soft white light.  He took it out and drank deeply, dribbling some down the front of his stained shirt.       The interior of his one room apartment was sparsely decorated.  In one corner of the room was his bed and a desk.  In the center of the room was a rocking -chair and the devices for his game.  A home - made modem sat on the desk beside articles about the serial killings.  Picture of death also adorned the walls.
