Chapter 2: Introducing Mia

2378 Words
I guess our flight will be for the next 7 hours before we land in California, so I guess that's enough time for me to go through some movies on Netflix. Not like I could watch some steamy romance movie without my mom by my side. So, after going through Netflix, I settled to watch Bel-Air, and that was how I decided to keep myself busy. But half-way into the second episode, I don't know as beginning to get bumps on my butt, so I unfold the windshield and stare out at the sky, all blue. My ideal favorite color, and that was when I knew I had to do something with my goddamn life. Aside from college applications, music rehearsals, and cheerleading, I need to think of my life, including my past, present, and future. I hope so. Well, I've been on a shitty path in my 17 years of existence.Let's talk about my first relationship. Danny Benson, as the name goes, so slime, so as his face. He was so cute, with perfect lips and curly hair. We met through Reya's cousin. Danny and Reya's cousin were classmates and both on the football team, so I guess you now know why I had to give in. He was my ideal type I ever wanted. Passionate, loving, and with an athletic body build, he was every girl's dream boyfriend. We hung out a lot and did things every teenager does in a relationship, but then I didn't opt for s*x because my mom groomed me with this intuition that your virginity is for your soul mate, not for some school flings. Well, he agreed, and we dated for about 6 months until a video of him having s*x with a junior trended on the school website when we were supposed to go out for our Valentine's couple night. "So, I never did have a Valentine dinner with him and our relationship ended," I said, feeling a wreck. "I felt betrayed, depressed, devastated and I hated relationships." "Reya teases me about my prince charming coming soon," I continued, "but I debunked it, saying she was just spewing words to keep me encouraged while she was having hook-up nights with college boys." "So, when it was Reya's mom's anniversary," I remembered, "lest I forget to tell you, Reya's mom died when we were in 6th grade of breast cancer. So, my mom filled in the motherly role for her and her dad became depressed, took to drinking, gambling and womanizing." "That led Reya into having more sleepovers at my place, not until her dad went into rehab," I said. "At the mart, we were trolling and picking what we needed from the shelves when I bumped into something solid, like a goddamn wall." "Who places a wall in the middle of shelves in a mart?" I wondered. "Lo and behold, I stare up into a pair of emerald eyes, flicking eyelashes, pointed nose and damn, chiseled body. And what was he? An Olympic gymnast?" "I'm sorry," I tried to pick up his stuff when I looked at the ground away from his heart-falling stares. I became aware of the situation. "Oh, nevermind," I thought to myself. "I should have looked up and stopped scrolling through my mobile." He bent down to join me and our hands collided. I could swear I felt a spark and I withdrew my hands immediately, as did he. We stared up at each other, standing up at the same pace. It felt like we were placed on automatic sync. "I'm I interrupting something here?" The voice of the devil, who always seemed to interrupt all of my moments, spoke. "Uhmm, no," he replied, his voice alluring. I was sure that I was turning red and I prayed not to be ridiculed by Reya. "My name is Jake Oscar," he introduced himself. "My name is Mia Alexander," I replied. "Can I have your phone number?" he asked. "Uhmm, yes I will," Reya interrupted, always the matchmaker. "Can I have your mobile?" "Why does she have to be my matchmaker at all times?" I thought to myself. "Well, he isn't bad anyways." And that was how Jake and I met. We started with calls and progressed to texting. I knew I was going to fall head over heels with his words, smile, accent, and psyche. He was romantic, just like all of those w*****d novels describe the perfect relationship dudes. We were together for a year before his family decided to move to California, and we never had s*x, all because I was being a mummy's girl. But I wanted to explore these teenage feelings. "Wait, Cali...for...Nia," I thought to myself. "I hope I get to see Jake. The first thing I'm gonna do upon arrival," I said with a cheeky smile. After Jake, I had about three relationships, but they weren't all promising. That was how I managed to recycle my heartbroken remains of my heart, waiting for my prince charming… Rodrigo POV: I've been trying her number for quite a while now and it keeps taking me to voicemail. WTF is happening? I hope she's safe and the mafia hasn't gotten to them yet... So, a little about me: I'm Rodrigo Fernando, from Italy but my mom was Mexican, so I'm Italian-Mexican, like my twin always says whenever we engage in any conversation. I was into hard drug smuggling, weapons, and assassination. I grew up in the slums of Italy; that's what I get for escaping the orphanage at a young age and having to fend for myself on the street, doing all sorts of dirty jobs. That was how I was taken to be a drug delivery guy under some Mafia, and I had always wanted to be a Mafia. Don't ask me how I knew of my background, because I did make a check on whom my parents were after becoming a Mafia and decided to let them be. At the young age of 18, I already had my gang and was becoming a boss, almost a rival to my adopted Mafia Daddy, but never the least. Life is a game where we kill to survive and survive to kill, so we take it all. He who can't keep up with the game quits or gets quit. I had always had an obsession with putä, but I stopped womanizing when I met a model on a trip to Dubai and things progressed so fast that we fell in love. Something the mafia doesn't indulge in. She got pregnant and we got married as soon as possible. I tried to keep her hidden from the outside world, but she didn't oblige; she wanted freedom. When I gave her a bit of it, she got herself killed. It was a staged accident, I know, but the public assumed it was a mere accident. So, I had to take care of the kids and their upkeeps. They had maids, drivers, and even private tutors, so I don't get a recurrence of what happened to Jenna. And then, I met Olivia Alexander, a widow who had a daughter, and I, a widower with a set of twins. We decided to let things flow, but I never did mention my lifestyle to her. She sees me as a construction firm CEO, yeah, that's what I do to avoid news and to get my Mafia family under cover from the public. I loved her so dearly, but her daughter has always been a thorn in my flesh. Why couldn't she just accept me and let us be a happy family? But she always makes everything difficult, even when I had to marry her mom. She was so against our marriage that she refused to attend. Well, now you are having a pretty good guess on why they are coming to the Beverly Hills for an impromptu weekend holiday. Well, the Mafia has eyes on them, and I'm not losing another woman and her daughter to the Alps anymore. I just have to find a way to convince them to stay longer till I'm able to sort things out... Present time... I had asked my personal driver and escort to go get the Alexander's from the airport. They will be arriving any moment soon. Olivia POV: Mia over there, we saw someone standing with a black tuxedo, putting on sun shades with a card bearing the Alexander's. Don't ask me, but I know the card holder as Rodrigo's personal driver. We wheeled our luggage after getting them from the arrival department and got cleared. Finally, it's time to get some rest and some perfect California sun basking for my skin. I have to make this trip worth it and make things work out with Mia and the Rodrigo's for their betterment of us all. "Welcome, my lady," I heard someone say. "Ohh, spare me the formalities, call me Olivia, and this is Mia." I replied. "Hi," Mia said. "Well, I guess we hit the road straight up, so the Rodrigo's doesn't get pissed up for keeping them waiting," I said. "Aye, captain," Mia squeaked. We all burst into a series of laughter. "Well, I guess this trip is going to be worth the pain." Please, can you turn on the radio?" asked Mia. "Roger that, ma'am," replied the driver. And with that, the once-silent Lamborghini was filled with the upbeat sounds of "Happier Than Ever". They were on their way to the famous Beverly Hills. "Oh my! I never would have thought this impromptu California cabin trip would take us to the all-famous Beverly Hills," thought Mia. She hoped to meet new friends, so she could brag about them to her sister, Reya. Speaking of Reya, she hadn't spoken to her in a while. Just then, the phone rang. "b***h, why are you facetime calling me at a wrong time?" Mia answered, frustrated. "For heaven's sake, Reya! Where are you? The place is f*****g loud, I can't hear you," she continued. Reya explained she had to attend a college party and "get her ass laid," as she put it. "Reya, it's your life. You w***e," teased Mia, half "Reya, it's your life. You w***e," teased Mia, half-jokingly. "Ouch, I'm hurt, sister to a w***e," replied Reya, not appreciating the joke. "Fine, you're not a w***e. I was only kidding," apologized Mia. "So, who's playing 'Happier than Ever' that's making you squeak?" Mia asked, trying to change the subject. "We're en route to Beverly Hills for the weekend," Reya responded, sounding surprised. "You're kidding me right? Mia, I'm hurt. Don't get all the boys at the Beverly, okay? Spare some for the other tweens girls," Reya added. "Yeah, yeah, I've heard you," Mia replied, rolling her eyes. "See ya and get your virgin ass laid," Reya said before hanging up. Whew, that was fast. Mia hoped they wouldn't be staring at her for being a virgin at 17. Though, she couldn't help but think that way, surrounded by the luxury and opulence of Beverly Hills. I thought to myself. And with that, we made our way to the sleek Lamborghini, ready for a weekend in the luxurious Beverly Hills. As we settled into the car, I couldn't help but think about the challenges that lay ahead. Would I be able to convince Mia and Rodrigo to accept each other? Would I be able to keep my Mafia lifestyle a secret from Olivia? But, I pushed these thoughts aside and turned on the radio, letting the sound of "Happier Than Ever" fill the car. I took a deep breath and allowed myself to enjoy the moment. After all, I was with two amazing women, on our way to a beautiful destination. What more could I ask for? As we drove, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. There was a red dot on the glass, and before I knew it, the glass was shattered. "Take cover!" I heard Peter yell. I reached for Olivia and Mia, pulling them down as shots rang out. My heart was pounding in my chest, and all I could think about was keeping them safe. "What's happening?" Mia cried out. "Darling, I don't know," Olivia said, "but Peter will keep us safe. Just trust me, baby." In that moment, I knew that I would do anything to protect these two women. No matter what challenges lay ahead, I would face them head-on. This weekend was going to be one for the books, and I would make sure that it was worth it. Olivia POV Could this be an attempt on us again? But the Alpha's weren't aware of us leaving. Well, I will have to fix that, but now safety first. Peter POV Could this be the Alps? But we made sure to take a good clearance and weren't followed. I guess I will have to drug Ma'am Olivia and Mia and then we can settle this with the boss. I swerved right with much force and Mia's head hit the window and she passed out. Now, left with Olivia, I swerved left and it was the same, she passed out saying, "Mi...a..." "Boss, we have a problem," Peter was speaking into the dashboard with the already connected Bluetooth device. "What's the problem, and where are the Alexander's?" "We just missed an attack and the Alexander's are passed out on their seat. All are settled, can we bring them in?" "Yeah, I will have the family check what went wrong." "Okay, boss. Will be right there in 5." Rodrigo POV What went wrong? I was pissed and walking around my study. "Siri, call me family head 1." "Calling family head 1," came the automated voice. "Hello boss." "I need you to check what went wrong and resolve all issues. I don't want any cases hanging anymore." "On it, boss. We've been able to identify that we had a spy among us, and he has been taken down and all necessary information extracted from him." "Impressive. I don't want any more problems coming up for the next months. They will be here." "Not until we've resolved with the Alps." "Yes, boss." And with that, I hung up and walked down the hallway with long strides…
