“Dane, what happened? She’s not waking up.”
I lightly tap Rose’s cheek. Her body is warm, and she is breathing fine, but her eyes won’t open no matter how much I move her. This made my anxiety rise as I searched for an answer from Dane.
“She’s fine. My doctor already checked her. The punks who kidn*pped her gave the child a sleeping pill. You don’t have to worry anymore, Daisy. Rose is safe now.”
I held on to Dane’s words as I tightened my hug to Rose.
He excused himself from the other people as he guided me back to his room. The pill he mentioned, and Rose’s condition made me boil in anger. Perhaps relief finally dawned on me, the reason why I could now entertain more emotions than ever.
