Chapter 28 – On My Bed * * * “I’m sorry. I can’t, Dane. My grandmother expects me to return after seven days.” More tears flowed from my eyes as a bitter grin flashed through Daisy’s face. I could tell that she was enjoying my loneliness as she let out a light chuckle along the way. The sight of her waning warmth retracted my arms away from hers. Daisy did not even bother to pacify me as she dragged my body back to the bed. She picked up the shards as quietly as possible as I continued my self-pity. What followed, however, shocked me, as she lay on the other side of my bed. Daisy showed no hesitation when she reached out for my hand, keeping it within her grasp.
