LUCAS’S POV The knock came hard and fast. I groaned, rolling over in bed. My head felt heavy, my eyes half-open. The sun hadn’t even climbed high yet. I squinted toward the window—the light was faint, grayish. Too early for anyone sane to be banging on my door. I sat up, rubbing a hand over my face. “What the hell…” Another set of knocks followed, louder this time. Whoever it was had no patience. “All right, I’m coming,” I muttered, dragging myself out of bed. I threw on a shirt and ran a hand through my hair before heading for the door.
