Hanuel’s Birthday
By midnight, the quiet of Hanuel’s room was broken by a gentle knock.
Hanuel: Coming!
She stood up and opened the door, only to freeze in surprise. In front of her were her mom and brother, and in Euntak’s hands was a beautifully decorated cake, with “Happy Birthday Hanuel” written in elegant icing.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she couldn’t hold them back. Quietly, she started crying, overwhelmed with happiness.
Euntak & Mom: (singing softly)
Happy birthday to you… Happy birthday to you… Happy birthday, dear Hanuel… Happy birthday to you!
Hanuel stepped forward and hugged them tightly, her hands trembling with emotion.
Mom: “My sweet girl… may all your dreams come true.”
Euntak: “Happy birthday, Hanuel. Make a wish.”
They prayed for her quietly, wishing her health, happiness, and blessings for the year ahead. Hanuel closed her eyes and made her wish, her heart full of gratitude and love.
She smiled through her tears, holding her mom and brother close, feeling completely cherished in that simple, beautiful moment.

Just as Hanuel wiped her tears and hugged her mom and brother, her phone rang. It was Ayan.
Hanuel: (smiling) “Hey!”

Hanuel: “Thank you, my love. You won’t believe it… my brother and mom are here celebrating with me right now!”
Hanuel held the phone out, showing her mom. Her mom smiled warmly and gently took the phone from Hanuel.
Hanuel’s Mom: “Hello, Ayan! So lovely to hear from you. You know… it has been seven months since you two started dating. I think it’s time you and Euntak begin thinking seriously about wedding preparations.”
Hanuel and Euntak both froze for a moment, speaking at the same time:
Hanuel & Euntak: “Wedding preparation?!”
Hanuel’s Mom: (chuckling) “Yes, wedding preparations! Don’t wait ten years to make this happen.”
Hanuel quickly took back her phone from her mom, still laughing, and turned back to Ayan.
Hanuel: “Thank you, my love. You always know how to make a girl feel special… and remind me of my responsibilities!”
Ayan: (laughing) “Anytime, bestie! Make sure you enjoy today and eat that cake!”
Hanuel: “Will do! Love you!”
They ended the call, leaving Hanuel smiling brightly, feeling loved, cherished, and a little teased by everyone around her — but in the best way possible.
Firsts and Surprises
The next morning, Hanuel dressed for work and went downstairs to find her mom and brother waiting.
Mom: “I thought you’d spend your birthday at home.”
Hanuel: “I considered it, but it didn’t feel special… and with all the orders last week, I needed to be at the shop.”
Mom: “My hardworking girl… can’t believe you love working so much.”
Hanuel: “That’s why I do what I enjoy.”
Euntak: “Anything you want as a present?”
Hanuel (smirking): “Buy me the latest Benz.”
Her mom and Euntak laughed.
Euntak: “Consider it done.”
Hanuel laughed, hugged them, and left for work. At the shop, her apprentices wished her warmly, and she let them take anything they liked. By 2 PM, she received a message from Do Do Hee wishing her a happy birthday — she replied simply: “Thank you ❤️.”

Chang Wook: “Are you a doctor to know that?”
Do Do Hee: “I just need to rest.”
He tried to help her and then noticed some blood. Realization hit — her first period. Panicked, he grabbed his phone and searched YouTube for advice but got more confused. Then an idea struck — Hanuel. He quickly dialed her number.
Chang Wook: “Hi, good evening. This is Chang Wook, Do Do Hee’s brother.”
Hanuel: “Oooh, what’s up?”
Chang Wook: “This may sound weird, but please… can you come? She needs a girl. You’re the only person I can think of. It’s urgent — please, you’re her only friend.”
Hanuel (laughing softly): “Hmmm… okay, send me your address.”
Hanuel sighed, thinking about her busy day, but she drove to Chang Wook’s house.
Chang Wook opened the gate.
Chang Wook: “Sorry for disturbing you… I really need your help.”
Hanuel: “It’s fine. Where is she and what’s wrong?”
Chang Wook: “You need to see it for yourself.”
Inside, Hanuel was guided to Do Do Hee’s room.
Hanuel: “Hi, Do Do Hee.”
Do Do Hee (in pain): “Hi… surprised to see you here.”
Hanuel: “Your brother called me… sounded worried.”
Do Do Hee: “Yeah… heavy stomach pain.”
Hanuel (gently, smiling): “First period?”
Do Do Hee (weak smile): “I think so.”
They laughed softly. Hanuel guided her through the essentials, while Chang Wook fetched drinks as instructed, offering one to Hanuel as well.
Do Do Hee (weak smile, concerned): “Hanuel… are you enjoying your birthday today?”
Hanuel (smiling warmly): “I am… thank you for asking, love.”
Do Do Hee (smiling softly despite the pain): “I wish I could celebrate with you properly today.”
Chang Wook felt guilty that he hadn’t wished her a happy birthday sooner.
Chang Wook: “I’m so sorry… I had no idea it was your birthday.”
Hanuel : “It’s okay.”
Chang Wook: “Happy birthday.”
Hanuel : “Thanks.”
Since it was late, Chang Wook offered to drive Hanuel home. She tried to decline, but he politely insisted.
