Chapter 4

"I reject you, Alpha Clint. . ." I threw my eyes away as Clint looked at me and told me that I was his mate. "You are my mate, Sophia," he said with so much kindness in his voice. "I can feel the joy that my inner wolf feels whenever I am around you. During the mating ceremony, my wolf connected with yours. You could feel it too. Don't deny it." I didn't want to answer him because I knew that he was saying the truth. I knew that everything he said about me connecting with him was true. The strange feeling I felt for him yesterday during the meeting ceremony was so real. I could feel my bones shivering. I could feel my heart beating so fast that I thought my heart wanted to leave my chest. I couldn't believe that he was my mate because my parents had told me several times during late nights talks that my mate would come from my pack and not from the pack that we were always at war with. It was just too strange for me to know that my inner wolf was responding to him in a way that I didn't approve. It felt like I was in a dream and I was never going to wake up from it. "I am going to tell my father that you are my mate," Clint informed me. "No! Don't do that. I am not your mate." "Stop lying!" I could feel the pain that I felt in his eyes. I knew I was lying and he knew too. It just felt odd that the people who were torturing me and making me to be a slave would have someone who was actually my mate. I could not accept that fact even though I knew that my inner wolf was happy knowing fully well that I had met someone who could connect with me in a way that nobody has ever connected with me. "I am not your mate," I told him. "You have to leave me alone." "Stop lying to yourself, Sophia. You know that you are my mate. You know that me and your heart connects in a way that makes you feel so strong. I am going to tell my father that I have found my mate. I am going to tell my mother too that I have found my mate. And I am going to make sure everybody in my pack knows that you are my mate and we are going to get married." "Please, stop!" "Why should I stop when I am saying the truth? You are my mate, Sophia. You have to deal with it." I didn't want to deal with the fact that I was rejecting my mate. I didn't want to accept the truth because all that mattered to me was setting myself free from this t*****e that I was in. I didn't want love at that period of time and he was making it difficult for me to reject him. I wanted to first set myself free from this pain. I wanted to go back to my people and I wanted to celebrate my eighteenth birthday in peace." "Who is your father?" I asked when I could no longer make him feel bad. "You want to know who my father is." "Yes!" He bit his lips slowly and looked at me as if he was wondering if the answer he was going to give me was going to kill me and end the little hope I had in my heart of finding a better life for myself. "My father is a wonderful man," he began. "My father is someone who is well trained. My father is someone who knows what is good for his pack. My father is someone who knows how to be a man to his wife and to his children. My father is a good man, Sophia. My father knows how to treat me nice." "So, what is the name of your father? I want to know. I want to know the name of your father because if you claim that you are my mate it is my duty to know the father of the man that I'm going to marry. If you don't tell me the name of your father then it means that there's no way you can be my mate." Clint looked at me with fear mixed with pain in his eyes. "Why should I tell you the name of my father apart from the reasons that you just mentioned?" "Because I deserve to know," I replied immediately. "I am not sure if you deserve to know the name of my father because you are not keen on accepting the fact that you are my mate. I want you to accept the fact that you are my mate firstly. I want you to know that you are the person that is meant for me because my inner wolf connects with your inner wolf. Until you can be able to accept that fact can I be able to feel the need to tell you the name of my father because there is no need of pushing this further when you're not interested." I rubbed my eyes slowly in my private cell because it was getting difficult to talk to Clint. And, even though he was making our conversation difficult, I couldn't deny the fact that he had a point and he deserved to know what my true intentions are. "Look at my situation, Clint," I drew his attention to my condition. "I am a slave now because I went to war with your pack. How will your pack accept someone like me?" "I don't care!" Clint raised his voice. "Just admit you felt something for me during the mating ceremony and I will tell you my father's name." "Alright!" I sighed. "Yes! I felt something for you. Now, tell me your father's name." Clint looked at me and exhaled. "Alpha Brian is my father!"
