Chapter Three– Landon's P.O.V I wanted to say something, I had to say something, but I couldn’t even say it. I watched her leave when I could have stopped her. What excuse could I possibly give to her. How could I make amends and heal the heart which stood broken before me. I remember her grandmother’s threat the very first day I had gone to visit her at her place. I know very little about her family, but her grandmother’s threat was one that made my bones shiver like a child being scolded by his parents. She had warned me about how fragile the human heart could be and made me vow never to make her grand daughter cry for any reason whatsoever. She is most likely to lay on curse on me and ruin my pack with one spell from her spell book, if she has something like that. Five days have gone and there hasn’t been a sighting of Aria anywhere. I figured she wanted all the solitude she could get and I made up my mind not to bother her. Focusing on the problem at hand, whoever this lady is, I have no memory of what truly happened between us. I need to find out what truly happened and find a solution to this problem. If I can’t prove that she is lying or that her child isn’t mine in the next few days, I would have to introduce her to the elders. After all my yelling and anger, she has distanced herself away from me and has refused to tell me her name or how we actually met. “You disappeared. You didn’t take my calls. You didn’t come visit me and what’s worst, I find out that I’m pregnant for you but hear you’re out on a date with some human.” Those are the very last words she said to me today and it hurt me in a way I didn’t expect. I stepped out of the room and let Alaric speak to her. I informed him about everything that is going on and he sounded angry when I told him a random lady is pregnant for me. He walks into my office where I stand against the wall, starting at a photo of Aria on my desk. She looked beautiful in it and memories flood my mind. I hurt her and I can’t forgive myself for doing that. “Her name is Sandra. And she says you forced her to sleep with you few weeks ago,” he informs me. I stare at him. I remember nothing like that happening and it makes no sense that I would force a lady I don’t know to have s*x with me. “You should go find her and bring her back here,” Alaric suggests. I laugh a hollow laugh. “I can’t face her. She needs time to heal and I’m too ashamed to look at her. I broke her.” Alaric sighs deeply and takes a seat. He is confused and lost about what to tell me at the moment. “Tell me what you remember?” he asks. I am quiet. My mind searching and ransacking for where and when I met Sandra. Why I had slept with her and how it happened. My memory is foggy and nothing comes to my mind asides attending a party few weeks ago. A party which was hosted for all Alpha’s by the Omega. I had gone for that party with Alaric and he was by my side all through that party, that I am sure of. After a moment of thinking, I remember what and how it happened. I was drunk. We played a drinking game and my side kept losing every time. Alaric wasn’t there with me. He had gone out to make a call and when he returned, I wasn’t in the party area. As for Sandra, I do remember going into a bedroom with her, but if anything else happened after then, I have no idea. We stare at each other in silence. There’s a faint shout outside the house and I am unbothered at first. After a while, the scream gets louder as it approaches and finds it’s way to my house. Gradually reducing as the person shouting seems to be out of breath. I and Alaric step out of the house and before us is Aria’s maid, puffing and panting heavily. Her face filled with worry and concern. “Sophia, what are you doing here?” I question her. “I need to contact Aria’s grandmother. Something terrible happened,” she responds. My brain wonders on the numerous things Aria could have possibly done to herself. My feet fighting the urge to run down to her house and see for myself what could have possible happened to her. “What happened to Aria?” I ask her but she doesn’t respond. Alaric taps me on the shoulder and urges me let Sophia contact Aria’s grandmother and tell her what happened. Sandra remains in her room as I had instructed not to descend to the living room even if there is a fire outbreak in the bedroom where she stays. Alaric and I walk into the living room with an anxious and an uneasy Sophia. I go to my office and bring out the phone which Aria’s grandmother had given me to be able to reach her if ever there is problem. Aria takes the phone and dials the only number saved to the phone. It rings for a moment and the call is answered. “Landon you sick werewolf. What did you do to my daughter that prompts you to call me?” Aria’s grandmother’s voice echoes from the phone and Sophia is stunned. She finds her voice and finally speaks. “Mrs. Blaire. It’s Sophia, Aria’s maid.” There’s an annoying silence over the phone for a moment before Mrs. Blaire finally speaks up. “What happened to my daughter?” Her voice is calm and relaxing, but even from the phone, I can tell that she is now worried too. I prepare myself, waiting to hear what Sophia has to say as I couldn’t find it in me to go to her house and know what is going on. “Aria poisoned herself.” Like being cut on the skin by a sharp knife, Sophia’s words are not what I was hoping to hear. She hands me the phone and I take a deep breath, waiting and expecting to be cursed by the most reverend witch in the land, but it doesn’t come. “Mrs. Blaire, I didn’t mean for anything like this to happen to her,” I announce, subconsciously making an effort to defend myself. “I don’t care what you did or didn’t do. I want my granddaughter back in our coven in the next one hour. Saving her life is more important to me.”
