The festival is louder than I expected. Music. Laughter. Lights. Humans pretending the dark doesn’t exist. Jason stands beside me in the shadows behind the vendor tents, arms crossed, eyes scanning the crowd like a wolf waiting for a slip in the herd. “She’s here somewhere,” he mutters. “I can feel it.” I can feel her too. Raven. Her magic hums through the air like a pulse, growing stronger with every hour. The full moon is close. And the Hallow inside me stirs in anticipation. But something else stirs too. Something older. Something mine. Jason’s phone buzzes. He glances at the screen, frowns, and answers. “What?” he snaps. A familiar voice shrieks through the speaker... Lily. I grit my teeth. Jason listens, expression twisting from annoyance to disbelief to fury. “He WHAT?” he barks.
