The journey

1038 Words
It wasn't an easy journey for Lucio to just admit and accept the reason behind Fortune's health. However, he has to open up his mind and utilize the available options to save his son. He was driving his own car on his way home, while Keila and Alexander rode in a different car with the help of their family driver. It was a silent and heavy night. It's been days since he talked to his son. He missed his voice and playfulness. How he wished he got well soon. He ordered his most trusted directors in the company to be on top of it while he was gone. He changed a lot when he became a family man. His mind has been strangled by problems. He came to his senses when someone approached him through his car window. He did not notice that he was in front of their gate already. "Sir, the gate was open. You may come in," the guard said. This guy was hired by his father a month ago, which is unusual for him to do. There are actually three of them. He grew up with servants but not with armed people around the mansion. He wasn't fully aware of this until he got home from a business trip. His reason was that he was already old enough to defend himself, so he needed someone to do it for him. In particular, the kids also need protection, which is really odd for him, but he did not make any conflicts out of it. He entered the compound and had his car parked near the main entrance of the house. As he entered, the strong wind blew, and he felt cold. It was past midnight, so he hurriedly went upstairs to where the kids were. He supposed Alexander and Keila were in their rooms. He was in front of the kid's room, and it was a good thing that the door wasn't locked. Seeing his children look happy and comfortable gives him peace and contentment. He gets into the room and stays for a while with them. He sat down on the floor while facing the bed. He fell fast asleep but was interrupted when he heard some hushed sounds. He couldn't determine where it was coming from. He opened the window and saw the trees were standing calmly. He remembers the reason why he had to go home. The old man asked him to collect some stuff from the compound. He needs time to complete them. He does not totally understand the roles of those things that the Shaman needs, but he has to comply before it is due. He cannot describe where the sound came from and it disappeared when he moved around looking for it and went to his room to rest a little before he began his mission. "Son, aren't you coming back to the hospital?" says Alexander, who freely went into his room that morning. He was very tired and forgot to lock the door, but he had to get up. He has tasks to do. "Meanwhile, I'll be attending to the kids. Aria will take care of Fortune in the hospital." He answered as he stretched his arms and legs. "The twins here are doing just fine. You don't have to worry much about them," Alexander assured Lucio. "I know, Dad, but the twins need our attention too. Since Aria couldn't be with them, I wanted to give them my attention, even for a short while. I believe Fortune is going to be fine." He replied. "Alright. It will be up to you. Keila and I have some matters to take care of. Get up from your bed and enjoy the sun with your sons," Alexander insisted. "I will," he said. He checked the time and it was eight in the morning. He quickly went into the shower for a bath. "Daddy!" Lucky shouted happily when he learned that he was home. "Hello, kids! How are you two?" he asked. "Better because you are here. When can we visit Fortune, Dad?" Charm replied eagerly. They are excited about seeing their other brother. "Fortune wants to be with you too, but he needs to get well before he is sent home. Are you praying for his quick recovery?" Lucio asked. "We do. Isn't he well yet?" Lucky intrigued. His phone rang, and Aira was on the other line. He opened the camera so they could see each other's faces. "Mom!" the twins cheered in gladness upon seeing their mother. They talked, and they received good news about Fortune's current progress. Lucio felt relieved and started to believe that the old man had done something good to help them. He let them talk while he was figuring out which item he was going to take first to present to the old man. When they were done talking, the twins handed him the phone. "How do you do? Any news?" Aria asks him to follow up on the Shaman's order. "I'm going to do it today. I was so exhausted last night that I woke up late this morning," he reasoned. "I understand, but please be in a hurry. You can see the good signs that Fortune is doing pretty well with the treatment. He did mention the old man and the protection that he gave him while we were talking last night," Aria explained. "I know that. It gives us hope. Don't worry because I will comply with everything he needs before I get back to the hospital. I hope he will continue to improve each day." He wished. Aria nodded and gave him a grateful smile. They ended the call because he had lots to do. He joined the twins in having their breakfast and sent them to their study room. Their tutor is already waiting for them. He leaves them under her care while he is on a mission. He went back to his room to check on the things he needed to do first. "Let me start in the library room," he uttered. He slowly and silently took the path through the library room. He had no idea why his first choice was to begin in that place.
