Werewolf

I was tired of being treated like a prisoner, I was tired of being treated like this. I needed a break but it was impossible for me to visit my parents. That morning, the Alpha had acted foul to me again and I lost my strength, I ran out of the castle and kept running. The guards wanted to pursue me but the Alpha stopped them “She’ll return, let her go” I kept running and didn’t stop till I got to the town center. There were too many people around and the voices made me feel sick. Again, I took to my heels and continued running. My long dress was getting in the way, it made me trip. I held the dress and tore the fabric to a length that was convenient for me. I came across a forest, a dark thick forest. This wasn’t like the woods I played in at home, I was afraid of going into this one. Fear crippled me but I didn’t hesitate, I’d go anywhere if it meant I’d be free from the Alpha. Without thinking more about it, I ran into the forest, not slowing down for anything. Tears escaped my eyes as I thought about how my life was before I ended up married to the castle. I bumped into something on the way and hit my head on the woody floors of the forest. “I’m so sorry, are you okay?” A tender voice graced my ears, I didn’t run into something, I ran into someone. The person extended a pale looking hand to help me stand up. I grabbed the hand and got on my feet, while removing the leafs from my hair, I took a good look at the person’s face. The owner of that tender voice I heard…was a man. He had perfectly black short hair that glittered, his eyes were as blue as the colour of the oceans. He was tall, so tall that I had to step back a little before I could see his face. He was a beautiful man, far more beautiful than any other man I had seen in my life. “He- hello” “Are you okay? You took a pretty hard fall. Are you injured?” “I’m not injured, I’m just fine. I didn’t even get anything as little as a bruise” “Good then” “Good” “Are you not afraid of me?” “I’m not, I wouldn’t be talking to you if I was” “I’m a total stranger though, you usually run into strangers a lot?” “Not really. However, I usually run into animals a lot, I’m not afraid of animals” “What if I told you that I’m an animal?” “Well, you’d no longer be a stranger” “You’re a funny girl, you know that?” He had a short laugh. “I’ve been called a lot of things, a good singer, a beautiful woman, a talented woman but I have never been called funny” “And now you have. You don’t look like you’re from around here” “Where did you come from? These woods are dangerous. A young girl like you isn’t supposed to be playing all alone in them” “The people at home upset me. They always say mean things to me and treat me badly. I had enough and decided to take a break from it all” “Take a break? Normal girls go to carnivals or festivals to take breaks. Why are you taking a break in the forest?” “Yeah but I’m not a normal girl” He smiled at me again, his smile looked warm and kind. “Your eyes look swollen, have you been crying?” “Crying? I don’t cry” “Is that so? You look…bitter, like you’re going through a lot and you’re tired” I felt hesitant about telling him anything, he was a total stranger and I didn’t want to bother him with my problems. Since I arrived her, he is the only person that had smiled at me genuinely. “Enough about me and my problems, lets talk about you” “Well, what do you want to know?” “What’s a young boy like you doing all alone in a dangerous forest like this?” “Young? I’m older than you, you’re a child to-“ “I’m seventeenth!” “Well now, it appears I’m not all that older than you” His reaction was funny. I laughed for the first time since I arrived here. “So don’t go calling me a child” “How do I address you then?” “Refer to me as a lady, or use my name” “What’s your name?” “I asked you a question first, you should answer it before asking me one” “Well first off, I’m not young. I’m nineteen years old” “Okay?” “I was returning from a trip, I’m on my way back home” “Home? You live in this town? That must mean that you’re a-“ “Yes, I’m a werewolf” “Why didn’t you attack me then? I’m guessing you know I’m human” I was trying to be bold even if I was being crippled by fear. “Why of course I do. Humans have a distinct scent and I picked up that scent the moment you bumped into me” “You’re not going to kill me?” “Why would I? You have done nothing wrong to me. Besides, I’m not in support of killing if I don’t have to” “Um, okay. I see” He looked and sounded sincere, I didn’t feel like I was being lied to. “You asked a question, my name is Reia” “Reia, how come your home is in the werewolf realm?” “It’s a long story but.. I’m actually your Queen” “You are? You must be the human that was offered to the Alpha on the day that the peace treaty was signed” “I am. But in truth, I don’t like it here. I just want to go back home” “If you do that, the war might start again, won’t it?” “That’s my fear, that’s why I keep staying here against my will” “I know more than anyone about how difficult a man the Alpha is” “You know the Alpha personally?!”
