He walked in the woods, the twigs breaking beneath his feet. The sound of crickets chirping pierced through his ears as the wind brushed pass his face, bringing the smell of earth after rain to his nostrils. His midnight black hair glittered in the light that shone from the moon. His thoughts wandered as he walked deeper into the forest...She was his brother's wife.
Shaking away the thoughts that had clouded his mind, he morphed into his wolf, disappearing into the woods.
Back at the castle, Reia had just walked in, her shoes brushing passed the floor as she made her way to the room.
Reaching a stop in front of a brown luxurious door, she stared intently at it. This was the room, right? she asked herself as she stared at it. Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door open, her eyes squinting as she scanned the room.
Heaving a deep sigh of relief, she walked in, closing the door behind her. She was not so used to the castle, it had taken some time to identify her own room. Sinking onto the king sized bed that lay in the middle of the room, she stared up at the ceiling, her thoughts wandering.
"who was he?" she muttered to herself, pouting as she remembered how he had refused to tell her his name. Was he also a castle guard? Or probably one of the warriors? she asked herself as she continued to stare at the ceiling.
A knock on the door pierced through her ears, cutting into the thoughts that had clouded her mind, waking her up from her reverie.
"Come in." She said lazily, not bothering to look at the door.
The door creaked open, a woman walking in. She was dressed in a maid's attire, her feet clad in simple sandals. Her hair had been tired into a bun. Her pale blue eyes fell onto Reia who laid on the bed, her head facing up.
"The Alpha has asked that you freshen up and come down for dinner." The maid said as she bowed nervously.
"Tell him I'm not having dinner with him." Reia said, not batting an eyes as she turned, her piercing gaze landing onto the maid who looked frightened at her response.
"Please, spare me, Luna." The maid begged, falling to her knees.
"The Alpha is going to have my head if I don't bring you out for dinner." She added, not standing up from her position. She knew how ruthless the Alpha was. She was scared for her life, she still had a family after all...
Staring down at the maid who knelt before her, Reia felt a familiar emotion enveloping her. Her people were helpless, just as this maid was. She had sacrificed herself for her people. Who knew how her father was doing, she thought wistfully as she stared into space.
Shaking her head to get rid of the thoughts, her eyes fell onto the maid who was still kneeling.
"Don't worry, he won't hurt you...just tell him I'm not feeling well and want to have dinner in my room." Reia said, her gaze filled with assurance as she stared at the maid who had raised her head.
"Thank you, Luna." the maid said as she stared gratefully at Reia. Standing to her feet. she walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Staring at the closed door, Reia's thoughts had started to wander before she shook them off. Getting off the bed, she made her way to the bathroom, where a bath had already been prepared. Undressing, she sunk herself into the water, the sweet smell of lavender invading her nose. She closed her eyes as she thought about the man from the woods. The heat from his hand when they had intertwined hands, the emotions all felt foreign to her.
She laid in the bath for what seemed like hours until she was finally done. Stepping out of the bath, she wrapped herself up in a robe that reached her knee, going back into the room. The day had already darkened. the windows which once shone orange rays from the sun now shone silver rays from the moon that resting in the night sky, casting a soft glow on her face as she held a book in her hand. Her brown hair had been wet from the bath she had taken, shimmering from under the light that shone from the moon.
Noticing the air around her had dropped by a few degrees, she whipped her head towards the door to find Cole standing there, his gaze unreadable. Her heart thumped in her chest as he approached her, his gaze not leaving her face.
"I heard you don't feel well?" Cole asked, his voice ringing out and startling her as his brows raised questioningly at her.
She had become mute from nervousness, not replying him.
Closing in the distance between them, he sunk into the bed beside her, earning rapid thumps from her heart.
"I asked a question." he said, his tone holding a hidden warning.
"Mhmm...yes." Reia muttered, she had forgotten how scary he was. What was he trying to do? she asked herself, not voicing out her thoughts.
"Next time you skip dinner, you should have a valid reason. Do you understand?" He asked, his lips curling up into a devious smirk as he trailed his index finger down the side of her face.
She stiffened at the interaction, earning a chuckle from him, one that was not genuine.
Standing up, he retired to his room, his gaze hardened...she had been lying.
The creaking sound of the door pierced through his ears, bringing him back to reality.
A guard walked in just as the door creaked open.
"Alpha." he called out with a bow.
Nodding his head, Cole motion for the guard to speak as he twirled the glass of wine in his hand.
"She had been out in the forest with a man." the guard said, shivering from the air that had turned cold.
"Find out who he is." Cole ordered, his voice ever so calm, yet there was an air to it.
