Chapter 12

Caroline’s POV: Waking up to an alarm blaring was never a good way to wake up. Groaning, she tried to get out of bed but realized she couldn’t move much. Panic started rising up in her at the thought of being restrained. Coming awake fully she realized Stevers was laying directly on her feet which is why she couldn’t move those and Klaus’ arms were still wrapped around her. Klaus stirred next to her and opened his eyes. His peridot eyes stared at her with love. Smiling slightly he kissed her forehead gently saying “Good morning Care”. Feeling herself calm down she smiled back. “Morning. Can you let me go though I have to use the bathroom.” Chuckling he released her and she managed to slip her legs out from under Stevers without disturbing him. Relieving herself she came back in to see Klaus talking to someone on the phone. “Yup we just got up and we will leave shortly…. Yup we should be there roughly around noon depending on traffic….Ok we will see you soon buddy and thanks again in advance for everything I greatly appreciate it.” Klaus hung up the phone and started changing his clothes. She couldn’t seem to help but ogle him as he changed. His muscles were well defined on his back and his ass was to die for. “Enjoying the show?” Klaus chuckled darkly at her. His eyes darkened with desire. Blushing profusely she looked away. How embarrassing to be caught staring so unabashedly at him. “Sorry.” She mumbled as she turned around to start digging for her own clothes. Warm, strong arms wrapped around her and pulled her up against his chest. She could feel his hardened c**k on her ass. “No need to be embarrassed, Care. Its not like you and I haven’t had s*x before. Anytime you wanna look, feel free.” He grinned into her hair before kissing the top of her head. Twisting around in his arms she reached her arms up to wrap around his neck to pull his head closer. Kissing him deeply she felt his tongue lick her bottom lip asking for entry. Granting permission she opened her mouth and allowed his tongue to explore. Moaning gently as the kiss deepened she pressed herself up against up. He seemed to have gotten more fevered as his hands tangled themselves into her hair allowing no escape. His hardened c**k seemed to strain against his boxers. She slipped one of her arms underneath his so she could stroke and feel his back muscles. He left one hand in her hair as the other grabbed her hip and started roving all over her body. He pulled his lips off of hers and started kissing her jaw, moving slowly down to her neck. She stretched her neck to give him better access and moaned as he continued to bite and nibble at her. Suddenly he stilled and pulled his head back. “What’s wrong?” She asked breathlessly. She looked up at him and took an uneasy step back. Klaus was staring intently at her neck with a look that was a mixture of rage and disgust on his face. Then it hit her. The side he had been focusing on was also where the faint scars from Zatracenís' fang marks were. She quickly put a hand over the scars and stepped back even further. “What the f**k are those?” He growled. She had never been scared of him before until now. The look in his eyes was alien to him and she couldn’t figure out why he looked so angry. She took another step back as he took a threatening one forward. Growling from Stevers startled her as the lab took a defensive position between her and Klaus. Klaus took a step back taking a deep breath he seemed to snap out of whatever was causing him to react that way and said. “Hey boy it’s ok I’m sorry for scaring you both.” He squatted down to Stever’s eye level and reached a hand out. Caroline continued to watch him closely with one hand covering up the marks. “I’m sorry, Care I wasn't expecting to feel that. I didn’t mean to startle you. I know you didn’t allow that to happen and I’m sorry. Please forgive me.” He pleaded with her while looking up imploringly at her. His reaction to the scars unnerved her but she nodded anyway then turned her back and continued to dig clothes out. Finding a pair of black leggings and a tunic top she ran away to the bathroom to change and take a minute to regain her composure. Splashing her face with cold water she stared at her own reflection. Her hazel eyes were red rimmed and a little swollen from the crying she did the night before. Her lips were swollen from the make out session with Klaus and she had faint hickies on her neck from him biting and sucking on her. It wasn’t that shouldn’t couldn’t understand his reaction; she just thought it was a bit over the top considering he knew about what all happened. Sighing she got dressed and pulled a brush through her hair and tied it up into a bun real quick. She opened the bathroom door and stepped out to see Klaus fully dressed and petting Stevers again murmuring apologies to the pup. He looked up as she stepped back into the room and got to his feet. She stilled as he took a few steps towards her. He held his arms out for a hug and waited. After a few seconds she made up her mind to forgive the outburst. Walking into his arms she wrapped them around his waist and squeezed tightly. He returned the strength of her hug and whispered again how sorry he was in her ear. They finished packing up everything and took Stevers for one last walk before loading him up in the car and back on the road to Great Oaks City. The drive was uneventful and with limited traffic they arrived 5 minutes before noon. Getting out of the car Caroline made sure to leash Stevers properly before walking up with Klaus to Rich’s front door. She kept getting weird vibes from the house. Like something was pushing against her. Each step felt sluggish and immensely difficult. Rich opened the door and welcomed them by giving Klaus a hug and Caroline a quick handshake. Standing at 6 foot 2 inches Rich was anything but what Caroline expected for a tech guy. His dark complexion made his blue eyes even more startling and beautiful. “You can put the dog out back if you want so he can run free for a bit.” Rich’s deep, rich voice rang out with a slight echo due to the height of the foyer. “Something I can do for you cupcake?” He asked, staring at her. “Sorry,” she apologized. “I just had never seen blue eyes on someone as tall, dark, and handsome as you.” She smirked flirtatiously. “Well thanks cupcake. It's one perk for having waardenburg syndrome.” He smiled back at her and beckoned her into the living room while Klaus who had stiffened at the exchange took Stevers out back. Rounding the corner into the living room the oppressive feeling intensified. She saw another man lounging on the couch. His long legs were crossed and he was leaning back while reading a book. Half of his head was shaved and the other half had his dark red hair braided in rows with beads that had strange symbols etched on them tied at the ends. His left eye brow was pierced and he had multiple piercings in both of his ears along with a ring through his lip. A scruffy beard that was neatly braided had beads tied into it as well. Leather bracelets wrapped around each wrist of his well toned arms. He was wearing all black and had combat boots on. Multiple necklaces, some of them looked like crystal pendants layered around his neck. She counted at least 7 different ones. The man looked up and his amber eyes stared directly at her. He seemed to be staring straight into her soul. “You must be Caroline.” His voice was deep and hypnotic. “Yes that's right.” She replied warily as she saw him get up and start walking towards her. She heard Rich move away and watched as he leaned against the wall with his arms crossed watching. “You are Tristan I take it?” She asked. “Mmhmm that’s right love now stand still and let me take a look at you.” He said while walking around her slowly. He pulled some sort of crystal out of his pocket and peered at her through it. Klaus walked in and watched with worry on his face as Tristan continued to circle her. Stopping in front of her he put his crystal back in his pocket and stared at her face. Feeling uncomfortable she tried not to look him in the eyes. “Well, aren't you interesting.” He said at last. She looked up to see him leaning back away from her a bit and watching her warily. “What do you mean?” She asked. This man had her very perplexed and she couldn’t figure out what his deal was. “I've never seen a siren in person before. I've only ever read about them in books. So you’re interesting.” He said with a shrug of his shoulders. “Wait I’m a what?!?” Caroline demanded.
