CHAPTER FIVE — WHEN WAR IGNITES

1057 Words
THE BORDERLANDS- WHERE BLOOD MEETS STEEL The world did not fall into war. It slammed into it. The eastern ridge—once quiet, once untouched—now trembled beneath the weight of two forces that refused to bow. On one side— The Blood Moon Crescent Pack. Rows upon rows of Lycans stood in formation, their presence suffocating, their power raw and brutal. Some remained in human form, others half-shifted, claws flexing, eyes glowing with hunger. At the front— Cain. Still. Silent. Deadly. His golden eyes scanned the horizon, his jaw locked tight, the mark beneath his skin burning like a living thing. “Something’s wrong,” one of his generals muttered. Cain didn’t respond. Because he already knew. On the other side— The Draco Hegemony. Fewer in number. But not weaker. Never weaker. They stood with quiet confidence, their armor glinting like scales beneath the storm-heavy sky. Some bore markings of ancient dragon lineage, others wielded weapons forged from elements that seemed to hum with power. And at their center— Tianlong. Unmoving. Unshaken. Unmatched. TIANLONG’S POV - THE CALM BEFORE THE RUIN The wind shifted. Carrying with it the scent of Lycan blood. Tianlong inhaled slowly, his gaze sweeping across the opposing army. “Arrogant,” Kael muttered beside him. Tianlong smirked faintly. “Predictable.” His eyes landed on Cain. And held. “There you are…” Even from a distance, he could feel it. The instability. The curse. The chaos wrapped inside the prince like a storm waiting to break. But beneath that— There was something else. Something unfamiliar. Something that didn’t belong to Cain at all. Tianlong’s eyes narrowed slightly. “…You’re not the one calling me.” CAIN’S POV - THE EDGE OF CONTROL He felt it. That gaze. Sharp. Unrelenting. Cain met it without hesitation. Tianlong. The Dragon King. For a moment— The battlefield disappeared. There was only the two of them. Two predators. Two rulers. Two forces that refused to kneel. “You should have stayed in your waters,” Cain said under his breath. Across the field, Tianlong tilted his head slightly— As if he had heard him. A slow smile formed. Infuriating. Calm. Confident. Cain’s hand twitched. His claws threatened to break through his skin. The mark on his chest flared. Pain shot through him— Sudden. Violent. Unforgiving. His breath hitched. Not now. Not here. The First Strike It didn’t begin with a command. It began with a mistake. A single Lycan—young, reckless, hungry for blood—lunged forward with a roar. That was all it took. Chaos erupted. The battlefield exploded into motion. Steel clashed. Claws tore. Magic ignited. The air filled with the sounds of war— screams, snarls, thunder cracking above as if the sky itself had joined the fight. TITIANLONG — THE OCEAN UNLEASHED Tianlong didn’t rush. Didn’t shout. Didn’t hesitate. He simply lifted his hand— And the world obeyed. From miles away, the ocean responded. Water surged across the land in a roaring wave, rising unnaturally high before crashing into the battlefield with devastating force. Lycans were thrown back. Lines shattered. Formation lost. Kael exhaled sharply. “Show-off.” Tianlong stepped forward, his voice calm. “Advance.” CAIN — THE BEAST AWAKENS The water hit like a wall. Cain didn’t move. Didn’t fall. Didn’t break. He stepped forward through it. Slowly. Deliberately. His eyes burned brighter now—gold bleeding into something darker. Something unstable. “You think water can stop me?” he growled. His body shifted—bones cracking, muscles tearing and reforming as the beast within him surged to the surface. Claws extended. Fangs bared. Power radiated off him like a living weapon. And then— He charged. THE COLLISION When they met— The world seemed to fracture. Water and force. Control and chaos. Tianlong blocked Cain’s strike with ease, their clash sending shockwaves through the ground beneath them. “Impressive,” Tianlong said, almost bored. Cain snarled, striking again—faster, harder. “You talk too much.” Tianlong countered smoothly, barely exerting effort. “And you think too little.” Cain’s temper snapped. He lunged again— But this time— Something went wrong. The Curse Tightens Pain. Blinding. Crushing. The mark on Cain’s chest burned like it was tearing him apart from the inside. He staggered. Just for a second. But that was enough. Tianlong noticed. Of course he did. His eyes sharpened. “…You’re deteriorating.” Cain’s head snapped up, fury blazing. “Shut up!” But Tianlong didn’t attack. Didn’t press the advantage. Instead— He studied him. Carefully. Curiously. “You’re not fighting me,” Tianlong said slowly. Cain froze. “You’re fighting something else.” BACK IN THE CASTLE- BELLA’S AWAKENING Far from the battlefield— The war still reached her. Bella collapsed to her knees as a sudden surge of energy tore through her chest. Her breath caught. Her heart pounded. “What—what is happening?” she gasped. The flames returned. Stronger. Brighter. More alive than ever before. He’s close. Bella’s eyes widened. “Who?” But deep down— She already knew. The First Manifestation The fire behind her rose. Not wild. Not uncontrolled. But forming. Taking shape. Slowly— Wings of flame spread behind her. Larger than before. Stronger. Real. Oriana stepped back slightly, her eyes widening—not in fear— But in awe. “She’s manifesting already…” Bella trembled, her voice shaking. “I can’t control it—” “Yes, you can,” Oriana said firmly. Bella shook her head. “No—I’m going to hurt someone—” “Then choose not to.” Bella froze. The words hit something deep inside her. Choice. She had never been given one. Until now. The flames flickered. Then steadied. Listening. Waiting. Bella swallowed hard. “…Stay,” she whispered. And for the first time— They did. BATTLEFIELD — THE PULL BECOMES REAL Tianlong felt it again. Stronger now. Closer. His attention snapped away from Cain— Toward the distant horizon. Toward something unseen. Something burning. “…There you are,” he murmured. Cain noticed. “What are you looking at?” Tianlong didn’t answer. Because for the first time— He wasn’t interested in the fight. He was interested in her.
