Chapter 11Allison’s townhouse was empty. Ian slipped inside the front door and stood in the foyer, gathering his nerve. Why? He had no clue, only the anticipation of what he might find, Adam, hopefully. But no luck. Yet, reminders of his presence lingered, leaving Ian to investigate the dark apartment. The constant low hum of the refrigerator running grew increasingly loud as did his boots clomping against the hardwood floors. Ian noted the items left out, the evidence of a family’s hurried exit.
