“Miss Sofia…it’s time to get up.” I awake to see Izzy at the foot of my bed holding clothes. Her warm smile made me almost forget the insane night I had. “You must get up and get ready. You need to eat before you take off.” Take off? “Where am I going?” “Alpha Dolph says you are going with him for the day.” My stomach sank. The last place I wanted to be was stuck with Dolph all day hearing about my nonexistent wolf. Regardless, I got up and got dressed. Izzy had picked out a warm sweater and fleece leggings. I smiled as my fingers trailed the edge of the garment. How did she know me so well? After breakfast Dolph entered the kitchen. This was the first time I had seen him in good lighting. Wow. He was beautiful. My face reddened as my body recognized my girly crush forming. “Are you ready?” Dolph nods at Izzy as he put on a pair of sunglasses. I didn’t answer but instead followed behind him as he lead the way to his black Range Rover. The drive was quiet, awkward even. I took in the view as we drove further and further into the forest. Part of me was nervous, I had seen way too many murder documentaries to be comfortable with this. Finally he parked the car outside of a small cabin. The cabin itself was beautiful. A stream circled one side of it and the tall trees only allowed for a couple rays of light to hit the forest floor. Flowers and vines occupied the walkway and outside of the swelling. This place was the epitome of peace. A large man appeared in the doorway of the cabin. He had long back hair and tribal tattoos engraved his massive arms. From afar this man looked intimidating but as soon as he smiled, his face softened and I knew instantly he heart was pure. “Alpha Dolph! What a nice surprise. What brings you to this side of the woods?” Dolph greeted the man with a smile. “Shiloh! It’s been too long, man. I hope all is well. This is Sofia..” Shiloh’s eyes trailed from Dolph and met my gaze. “Sofia… the wolf of wisdom…it’s a pleasure to meet you.” I bowed my head in respect. “The pleasure is mine.” Dolph took Shiloh by the shoulder and they walk out of my hearing, talking in a hushed tone. I didn’t like this, if they were discussing me I had a right to know what they were saying. I could feel annoyance wash over me as they made their way back to earshot. “Sofia, Dolph tells me you didn’t know you were wolf.” “I am not wolf.” I said shooting Dolph daggers. “Will you follow me?” Unsure of why, I followed Shiloh into the cabin. It was modest but beautiful. Paintings covered the wall and Native American artifacts were on every corner. “Sofia, may I see your palm.” I held out my palm as Shiloh examined it closely. “She is from the Onyx mountain pack.” Shiloh traced a long long across my hand. “Her ancestors were warriors. She is of Alpha bloodline.” “Onyx? I thought that pack died off decades ago. I heard my grandfather speak of them a couple times.” “The pack died off when the bloodline stopped. The alphas eldest daughter was thought to be killed by an enemy pack. That was the beginning of the end for them. However, Sofia here is a direct descendant from that line. Sofia, what is your mothers name?” “Athena, she died when I was young.” I whispered. “Athena?” Shilohs eyes widened. “Athena was the alphas daughter, which makes you the alphas granddaughter. You are the last remaining member of the Onyx pack.” “Shiloh something is wrong with her wolf. She’s 18, she hasn’t transitioned yet. She doesn’t even believe she is wolf” Dolph sounded desperate yet defeated. It made me feel guilty. Shiloh took out a cup and poured some kind of liquid from a glass jar into it. He then took my hand and pricked my finger with a needle, dropping my blood into the cup. “Hey!” I yelled as I recoiled, holding my throbbing finger. Shiloh didn’t even acknowledge me. He continued working. After what seemed like hours, Shiloh looked up from the cup. “Her wolf is weak. After all it’s been subjected too, I’m surprised she’s not dead. The alpha blood is to thank for that. Cubs know from the time they are born that they are wolf. They spend their entire childhood preparing for transition. Sofia didn’t have that luxury. For whatever reason, Athena did not tell her she was wolf. Instead of preparing her body for transition, her wolf has been put into survival mode, protecting her from danger. Your lucky you found her when you did-if not, she would be dead.” I gasped at Shiloh’s revelation. “Sofia, you have to heal yourself and your wolf. You are one. You’ve been in survival mode for so long that you’ve shut her out. In reality, she’s been the one protecting you. She’s trying to reach you, through your dreams. Here, I want you to drink this. I’ll send some home with you. Drink it everyday for a week. It will heal your wolf physically, then you can connect with her.” Shiloh looked at Dolph, he voice low and serious. “Once her wold is healed she will begin the transitioning process. You cannot complete any bond with her until she is healed and has transitioned. It will kill her.” He turned back to me, handing me a cup with a light brown liquid. “Drink” My head was spinning, but I did as he asked. When I came here today, I was 100% sure I wasn’t wolf. Now I don’t know. How could he have known about my past or my dreams? What bond was he talking about? This was all too much. Dolph The drive home was silent. Sofia looked so scared. Every part of me wanted to grab her and hold her, but I knew I couldn’t. Not yet. Shiloh was right, she needed to heal her wolf. As we walked to the car, he told me that the first dose of the medication was the most powerful and that Sofia would need help understanding the changes that were happening to her body. He also told me that once her wolf was healed, it would make our connection even stronger. Two alphas as mates was rare, and controlling my wolf until her first transition would be hell. I watched her as she slept on the drive home. I would go through hell for this woman, I would destroy hell for this woman. Sofia I woke up back in bed, the covers wrapped tightly around me. I went to roll over only to stop in my tracks. There was no pain. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t in pain. I made my way to the bathroom and the woman looking back at me in the mirror was almost unrecognizable. My bruises were gone, all of them. Only my clear reflection remained. I reached out and touched my skin to make sure it was real. The dark bags that hung from my eyes were also gone. For the first time in long time, my freckles were the only marks upon my skin. “You’re beautiful.” I turn around to find Dolph leaning against the bathroom door. A scent resonated from him that almost knocked me down. I trailed him up and down, taking in every part of his body. He was wearing plaid pajama pants and a white t-shirt that clung to his perfectly chiseled skin. My school girl crush had turned quickly into a full blown attraction. The feelings that washed over me made me dizzy and I almost lost my balance. “Woah, hey are you okay?” Within an instant, he was by my side, his hands on the curve of my back to balance me. I watched as he looked at me with concern. Please, God. Let him take his hands off of me before I die right here in this bathroom. “I’m fine, it’s just been a long day…” He brushed my hair from my face gently. “Your injuries are healed. Your wolf is getting stronger.” “This is all too much.” I whisper. “Sofia, I will protect you until the day I die. You don’t have to be scared anymore.” I looked deep into his eyes. Something stirred inside of me and whispered. He is a good man, but I was not a good woman. I was damaged, battered, and barren. None of which are attractive traits to an Alpha.
