Chapter 19Dakota’s place was a half hour walk from Felicity’s place, and in spite of the miles she’d already trekked today, she wanted to walk it. The neighbourhood changed from the suburban houses that marked Felicity’s neighbourhood to convenience stores and post offices, along with a mechanic’s shop that surely serviced Dakota’s gold car, and then her doorway. She rented the basement of a two-storey brick house owned by an old woman. She wore hearing aids, Dakota said, but she often took them out at night so she could sleep, and the nice side-effect was Dakota got to play music as loud and as long as she wanted.
