I knew I had been left there for hours, but it didn’t matter. The bugs were gone and the rain continued, returning me to my happy childhood days. It gave me time to think and reminisce. I laughed at those funny times when I was young without a care in the world.
Later in the day the skies cleared and the sound of the 4-wheeler could be heard in the distance. It would soon be over.
“I’m sorry, Jack. I shouldn’t have left you out here like this.”
“No, Mistress. You can punish me for talking, but please let me speak. I failed you. I am sorry. I deserved the punishment of spending the night here in the swamp. It wasn’t that bad. Thank you for letting me stay out here during the rain. It recharged me, giving me the desire to serve you better.”
“You aren’t upset?”
