Chapter 2

When I wok up the next morning, I had expected Anna to talk to me about what had happened last night. Perhaps even shout or even call my mom straight and tell her that I walked around her house without panties on. But Anna did none of that. Infact she looked very cheerful when I saw her in the morning. Setting breakfast, making calls, smiling and all the rest. Immediately I noticed that she wasn't going to ask about last night, all my nervousness flew out the window, and I sat down to have breakfast, with moderate clothes on, of course. "So….finish your breakfast, get yourself ready, and i will drop you off at your college." Anna said, settling the plate of pancakes on the table. She took the other used plate and returned it to the sink. "Its better and easier, than you taking the subway and a cab down to your school." I looked at her, in between mouthfuls of pancakes. Much as the happiness that swelled inside me made to smile, the fact that Anna was willing to risk her precious time just to drop me off at school, made me feel bad. "You don't have to worry about it." I replied, dropping the fork on the plate. "Besides, you will be late for work." Anna smiled at me, "I don't mind sweetheart…." I looked at her perplexed. "Really? Wouldn't your boss be angry? I mean….." "I think he will be just fine." "Driving all the way from here to New York University might really…." "It won't if we leave early." She looked up and smiled at me again, before she turned and walked to the sink. I took a deep breath. Well...if Anna said it was fine...then it had to be. After Anna and I had breakfast, the maid arrived, and me and Anna both went to our different rooms to get dressed. I came thirty minutes later, dressed up in a purple gown, that had a flowery design at the sides. It had been a gift from one of mama's old friend, who had made it herself. But Anna said that she didn't like the gown, and took me back to my room to change. It took us another thirty minutes before we were finally ready to go. We got into Anna's car and drove off. It was really a long drive to New York college, and I was already sick of staying in the car halfway through the drive. Too bad I was going to do this for the next four years of my life. "You should have chosen a college closer to your town, you know." Anna mentioned. Her gaze was still fixed on the road, but somehow she managed to take little peeks at me from the corner of her eyes. I rolled my eyes at her, but turned my face away so she wouldn't see me because mama considered that a rude thing to do. You wouldn't understand. Like New York college is the best university mama can think of, and that's the only place she wants me to go." I explained to Anna. Anna laughed, "your mom is crazy. But she loves you...my mom didn't even want me to go to highschool." I laughed about what she said, and Anna laughed too. I didn't actually laugh because the jokes she made about her old mom, who during my childhood times, had asked me if I had a boyfriend, and hadn't even waited for me to say something before going into one of her long talks, about how I should focus on school and keave boys, instead I laughs because, I was 500 miles away from my hometown, and I didn't have the faintest idea on what to do once I got to college. We got to my new college, a few minutes after 10 in the morning, and Anna led me out if the car towards the large college building, so I could do my registration. It took us three full hours before my papers were signed and I was allowed to go out of the school bursar's cramped office. As I got out of the office, Anna kissed me goodbye and walked over to her car while shouting that she would pick me up by 5, and if she didn't come early, I should take a bus and come home. I nodded, and walked towards my department. Apparently, I was here to study medicine, and fulfill the long wish of my mother. But the problem was, could I cope with the flow? My first lecture started off nicely, based on the fact that I was a transfer student and had a good opportunity of being able to sit in the front row. The second lecture ended nicely as well, and so did the third, and before I knew it, it was evening and I was standing at the front of the College gate waiting for Anna. I checked my time againand looked up at the sky. It was going to rain soon and Anna was still not here. I let out a huge sigh, then told myself to wait for a few more minutes, and that if she didn't show up, I was going to walk straight to the subway, and go home. I stood there for some few more minutes, but Anna still hadn't shown up. I stared at the time that I had allocated to waiting for her. Thirty more seconds…. I rubbed my arms and looked up. The clouds were getting dark. I looked back at my wristwatch. 10…9...8...7… I rubbed my arms again. 5...4...3...2..1…. "Hi!" Something warm touched my shoulder and I jumped, almost dying of shock. I moved away, trying to steady my breathing. My throat burned and I could feel the rushed sound of my own heart. Wtf...who the hell... I turned over to look at the person and my eyes came in contact with a pretty Blondie. Her eyes were filled with concern, and she rushed towards me quickly. "Are you alright?" She asked, and then stared down at my neck, "hey...your neck is red...we…." "Am fine." I breathed. She looked at me worriedly. "Are you sure?" No am not! You almost killed me! "Yes. I'm fine. You just scared me." "I'm sorry about that. I saw you just standing here...and I believe your waiting for someone." Her voice was soft and friendly, and her eyes seemed to smile as she spoke. I rubbed my hands together and looked straight ahead. "Kind of, I'm not sure she's coming." I turned to look at her. "So…?" "I...just...thought...you would...uhm...uhm...let me give you a ride." Her eyes were lowered as she spoke, and when she raised them again, she met my eyes, and she blushed. "Oh." I nodded. "Sure. C'mon, lead the way." If there was one thing my mama had told me, was to never accept rides from strangers. But she wasn't here, and if getting into a car with a pretty Blondie who felt very shy around me was going to get me to Anna's house, then...there was nothing I was going to do about it.
